The Las Vegas Raiders ended their four-game skid with a 20-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans on October 12 at Allegiant Stadium. Although Ashton Jeanty didn’t surpass 100 yards from scrimmage, the focus was clearly on getting the ball in his hands and letting him go to work.
Jeanty finished with 75 rushing yards on 23 carries and 11 receiving yards on two catches. Las Vegas also made a point to keep things controlled through the air, limiting veteran quarterback Geno Smith’s deep passing attempts.
Although it might be a slower pace than some might want, the rookie running back is trending upward each week as he becomes a vital piece of the Raiders’ offense. Amid this positive form from Jeanty, tight end Brock Bowers had nothing but praise for his offensive teammate.
“He’s the man,” Bowers said in an interview with Yahoo! Sports. “He’s a great dude. As you can see, he runs the ball freaking tough. I mean, he’s out there hitting dudes, making dudes miss, and he’s a fun player to watch.”
Raiders Are Feeding Ashton Jeanty More
Las Vegas are starting to lean on their top draft pick more each week. After the win, Jeanty met with reporters and talked about the coaches’ decision to keep giving him the ball and stick with a run-heavy approach.
“It felt good,” Jeanty said postgame. “I mean, I think just kind of setting that mentality, you know, we’re going to run the ball and, you know, when we’re efficient in the run game, we do better as an offense. It makes the job easier in the passing game, and we’ve got to continue to just keep getting better.”
The Silver and Black might need to take this same approach heading into Week 7 against a Kansas City Chiefs team that might not be what it once was, but still commands respect. If the Raiders want a win over their AFC West rival, they cannot afford to turn the ball over.
As a result, Las Vegas could be leaning on a run heavy offense and count on their defense to make plays to limit the Kansas City offense. It will be interesting to see if Jeanty can rack up more yards on the ground or in the air, as Pete Carroll and his team cannot afford to have careless turnovers as they did in that four-game losing streak.
The Raiders Needed to Snap Their Losing Streak
Las Vegas entered Week 6 desperate for a win to keep its 2025 NFL season alive. A loss would have likely pushed the Silver and Black into full-on seller mode at the NFL trade deadline. Instead, the team clings to a slim chance of returning to .500. Jeanty also shared his thoughts on what the victory meant for the squad.
“It feels good,” Jeanty added. “I mean, obviously, it’s been a long time since we won, so, you know, a great feeling to go out there and get that ben and stuff… It’s big time. I mean, all it takes is one play, one win, to get the momentum rolling in the right way, and we’re going to continue to get better [and not stagnate].”
