Last week, the New York Giants put a beatdown on their rival Eagles in a huge win for the team. Rookie first-round QB Jaxson Dart had easily his best game of the young season in the upset win, and the Giants‘ pass rush made life difficult on Eagles QB Jalen Hurts all game long.
Even though, they’re still just 2-4 on the season, New York has real momentum now, with wins over the Chargers and Eagles over the last three weeks. Led by Dart and rookie fourth-round RB Cam Skattebo, the Giants have an infusion of hard-nosed youth in the organization that’s inspiring real energy in the fanbase for the first time in years.
Entering the season, Giants HC Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen had maybe the hottest seats in the industry. Giants owner John Mara decided to retain the pair after last season, but said at the time that they needed to show him something this season to keep their jobs past it. Mara put the them on notice, and even though it’s already been a rocky season, there’s hope for the future.
Broncos Defender Takes Subtle Jab at New York Giants QB Jaxson Dart

Coming off that huge win over the Eagles, the Giants now get a 4-2 Broncos team that had high expectations of their own entering the year. Denver ED Jonathon Cooper was asked what he thought about playing against Dart, and he sent some shade Dart’s way.
“Yeah, I mean, he’s a young guy,” Cooper said on Wednesday. He’s feeling himself a little bit, he’s out there running around, he’s got the chain on, he’s dancing. You know, I feel like everybody needs something, so. But we’ve gone against [quarterbacks] who have run around in the pocket and have tried to do stuff with their legs. So it ain’t nothing we haven’t seen.”
You could argue that’s not even a subtle shot. Cooper clearly isn’t intimidated ahead of his matchup with Dart, and in fairness, most rookie quarterbacks don’t inspire fear in veteran defenses. Cooper is one of the best pass rushers in the league, with 18 tackles, five sacks, and two passes defensed on the year so far.
Jaxson Dart Has Been a Revelation for the New York Giants
Still, perhaps Cooper should be taking more note of what Dart’s done so far this year. He’s started three games and is 2-1 as the Giants’ starter, with a loss to the Saints sandwiched between a pair of wins over the Chargers and Eagles.
So far, Dart’s legs have been more effective than his arm. He’s rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns on the year, averaging 5.2 yards per carry and consistently being utilized in tough, gutsy situations — in addition to some clutch scrambling out of structure.
While Dart was more limited as a passer in his first two starts, it all started clicking against the Eagles. He threw for 195 yards on 17 of 25 passing, for a 68.0-percent completion percentage. Dart is improving week over week and will look to continue his upward trajectory against one of the toughest defenses in the NFL.
