Glen Powell To Make ‘Saturday Night Live’ Debut

Glen Powell

“Top Gun: Maverick” actor Glen Powell will be hosting NBC’s iconic sketch comedy show “Saturday Night Live” for the first time on November 15, 2025, according to Variety. Powell will be promoting his new movie, “The Running Man,” which is set to premiere in theaters the day before, also per Variety.

The film is a remake of the 1987 movie of the same name, based on a novel by Stephen King. In it, Powell plays Ben Richards, a desperate man who signs up to be a contestant on a deadly reality show. Per “The Running Man’s” website, “In a near-future society, The Running Man is the top-rated show on television—a deadly competition where contestants, known as Runners, must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins, with every move broadcast to a bloodthirsty public and each day bringing a greater cash reward.”

Powell’s character joins the show in order to save his sick daughter, unwittingly becoming a fan-favorite contestant and “a threat to the entire system.”

In addition to “The Running Man,” Powell is currently staring as the title character in “Chad Powers” on Hulu. Per Hulu’s official synopsis, “Eight years after an unforgivable mistake nukes his promising college football career, hotshot quarterback Russ Holliday tries to resurrect his dreams by disguising himself as Chad Powers – a talented oddball who walks on to the struggling South Georgia Catfish.”

‘Saturday Night Live’s’ 51st season

Powell isn’t the only major celebrity hosting ‘SNL’ this year. Sabrina Carpenter will be doing double duty as both host and musical guest on October 18, 2025. According to Variety, Powell’s “Top Gun: Maverick” co-star Miles Teller will host the NBC late-night program on November 1, 2025. Teller is promoting his new film, “Eternity,” set to his theaters on November 26, 2025.

November will feature another “SNL” first-time host: comedian Nikki Glaser. Glaser is no stranger to hosting; after a hugely successful run as the Golden Globes 2025 host, she’ll be reprieving her role for in 2026. Next year, she’ll also release a new comedy special on Hulu, according to Variety.

“Saturday Night Live” Season 51 Changes

The brand-new hosts aren’t the only changes made between “SNL” seasons 50 and 52. Many cast members exited the show, including Ego Nwodim, Michael Longfellow, and Heidi Gardner. Five new cast members were introduced, such as familiar “SNL” face Ben Marshall and Dropout cast member Jeremy Culhane.

“Saturday Night Live” airs every Saturday at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC, or next day on Peacock.
