Jacksonville Jaguars’ Owner Opens up on New Regime

The Jacksonville Jaguars are 4-2 and hoping to add another to the win column when they “host” the Los Angeles Rams in London on Sunday. It’s their second home stadium and they probably already have their favorite local hangouts over there.

Jaguars’ owner Shad Khan spoke to Jaguars Media on Saturday morning to discuss the team’s great start, the new regime and playing in London.

In February of 2025, Khan hired Jaguars’ all-time great and first-ever draft pick Tony Boselli (USC, 1995) as his executive vice president of football operations. So far, he’s pleased with the job Boselli has done.

“First of all, the ‘GM job’ is just too big for one person, frankly,” Khan began. “Football is complicated. The responsibilities are immense. Tony, his background, he’s about ideal for that role. We talked about it in the past, and this was a perfect time to be able to implement that from Day One.”

Jacksonville Jaguars hire one of the youngest general managers in the NFL

After the Jaguars brought on Boselli and head coach Liam Coen, they signed general manager James Gladstone, because that’s the order in which you should do it. Get the coach, then the G.M. Got it.

At 35-years old (he was 34 when he was hired), Gladstone is the second youngest general manager in the league behind Andrew Berry of the Cleveland Browns who is 32. Maybe that’s why the kids were making fantasy football draft-day trades in April?

Regardless, it’s still early and so far Khan is happy with Gladstone (ask him in three years). He was asked about Gladstone’s overall approach to personnel on Saturday.

“I’ve liked pretty much everything about it,” Khan said. “The results, again, speak for themselves. What James has really brought in, which is in a way common sense – but certainly we weren’t doing it – was you look at the attributes of a football player – the speed, the weight, the height, brain power, their processing speed, how they are as a team member and are they the glue that’s going to hold the rest of that?

“That ability to anticipate that and really put it in the mix, then practicing it and you see the results … I think that’s really the X-factor on what the team as a whole, with James’ leadership, is doing.”

The Jacksonville Jaguars are playing in London…again

If you’re an NFL fan, you’ve gotten used to seeing the Jaguars play on a few early Sunday mornings. They’ve been playing games in London for years now and seem to have adopted it as their second home.

Khan was asked about playing overeas and the effects it’s had on his franchise.

“It has done everything and more,” Khan said. “We have a record number of people here from Jacksonville, from the business community. They’re getting that the NFL games have put the city of Jacksonville on a national global stage. The synergies between London and Jacksonville … whether it’s economic or many other ways, job creation … being able to harness that, we see that in action. I’ve enjoyed running into people, talking to them, what they do there, what they’re doing here … overall, it has been highly positive.”

The Jaguars have played in London every year since 2013 except for the 2020 season due to COVID-19.

“Moving forward we have a number of actions,” Khan said. “We’re waiting for the league and nothing happens here without league approval. I don’t want to speculate what’s going to happen, but I’m optimistic this journey is going to continue.”
