The Minnesota Vikings suffered a hard-fought 28-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 7, dropping their record to 3-3 on the season. While the Vikings nearly pulled off a big rally against the Eagles, a handful of mistakes they made throughout the day ended up coming back to bite them when all was said and done.
It wasn’t a great day for the Vikings’ secondary, as both A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith had huge games for the Eagles. One guy who was part of that unit’s struggles was cornerback Isaiah Rodgers, and after the game, he revealed that he had received some horrific NSFW messages from a fan on social media.
Isaiah Rodgers Calls Out Fan for NSFW Messages
This game was a revenge game of sorts for Rodgers, who helped the Eagles win Super Bowl LIX last season. After the team let him hit free agency, he ended up signing a two-year, $15 million contract with the Vikings. Taking on a starting role, Rodgers has been a revelation this season, and with Philly’s secondary struggling, it’s clear that they could have used a player like Rodgers on their team this year.
Things didn’t go all that well for Rodgers on Sunday, though. Regardless of who he was matched up with, he struggled in coverage, giving up several big plays to the Eagles’ scuffling passing attack. Philadelphia essentially won the game with a 45-yard pass from Jalen Hurts to Brown on 3rd & 9 with 1:45 left in the game, with Rodgers being in coverage on the play.
For as well as Rodgers had played through the first five games of the season, he was just as bad against the Eagles, and fans were frustrated with his performance. However, one fan crossed several lines by sending Rodgers a slew of offensive, derogatory comments on social media after this loss, which the veteran cornerback screenshotted and shared on his Instagram story.
“Keep that same energy,” Rodgers said alongside a pair of photos of messages from the fan.

It’s understandable to be frustrated with a player if they are performing poorly, but there’s no place for these sorts of comments. Thankfully, Rodgers appears not to have let them get to his head, as he quickly took control of the situation and opted to use it as motivation moving forward. Chances are there will be repercussions for the user who sent him these messages, too.
Moving forward, Minnesota will turn its attention to Week 8, where a matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers awaits them on Thursday Night Football. Playing on a short week is always tough, especially when your team has a quarterback dilemma like the one the Vikings have on their hands with Carson Wentz and J.J. McCarthy. Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET, and fans will surely be curious to see who starts under center for Minnesota in this one.
