Spurs Trade Idea Builds New Big Three With Victor Wembanyama, De’Aaron Fox

The basketball world was set ablaze for Victory Wembanyama’s 2025-26 debut.

After missing the last third of the season last year, the San Antonio Spurs phenom did not disappoint in his return to the floor.

Wembanyama recorded 40 points and 15 rebounds on 71% shooting in only 30 minutes of action.

The Frenchman also had an assist, one steal, three blocks, and zero turnovers.

San Antonio has something special on their hands here, and while their roster has tremendous upside thanks to years of picking high in the draft, they could make an aggressive win-now move for Wemby.

Spurs Trade Proposal Lands Suns’ Devin Booker

In a trade idea first proposed by Eddie Bitar of Fadeaway World, the San Antonio Spurs would acquire Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker.

San Antonio Spurs receive: Devin Booker

Phoenix Suns receive: Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, 2028 first-round pick (via SAS or BOS), 2030 first-round pick (via SAS, DAL, or MIN), 2031 first-round pick (SAS), 2031 second-round pick (SAS)

While the Suns land the draft capital required to reconstruct their roster, the Spurs create a new big three with Wembanyama, De’Aaron Fox, and Booker.

“With Wembanyama demanding double-teams inside and Booker stretching defenses on the perimeter while Fox speeds up and down the floor, the Spurs’ offense would become nearly unstoppable,” wrote Bitar.

“Booker also brings playoff experience and a clutch pedigree that would help stabilize a young roster as they navigate the high-stakes postseason environment. He’d serve as the ideal running mate for Wembanyama and Fox, allowing the 20-year-old phenom to focus more on his natural game while sharing offensive responsibilities with an established All-Star.”

The best part about the trade for San Antonio is that they get to hang onto their lottery players, keeping Dylan Harper and Stephon Castle.

Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson have had nice moments throughout their tenure, but neither provides the upside of the former Rutgers and UConn stars.

So while the Spurs give up three first-round picks over the next six years, they still have young talent developing and waiting in the wings to replace the likes of Fox and other veterans throughout their championship window.

Would the Suns Make the Trade?

In a vacuum, the Phoenix Suns likely have zero interest in parting ways with their franchise’s best player of the last decade.

But in a scenario where Booker doesn’t want to undergo a rebuild and would rather spend his prime on a winning team, he could force Phoenix’s hand to trade him where he pleases.

And what better city to land in than Wembanyama’s?

“For the Suns, moving Devin Booker would be painful, but the logic is clear after already parting ways with Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal. Instead of clinging to a fading window, Phoenix could finally reset with a young, talented package that offers both present value and future upside,” continued Bitar.

“These assets give Phoenix the flexibility to either draft and develop talent or package them in future deals to accelerate the rebuild. Given how depleted their draft cupboard became during the Durant and Beal acquisitions, this trade instantly restores balance to their asset pool.”

Vassell and Johnson are no consolation prize, either.

They’ve both shown tantalizing upside as two-way wings that could thrive alongside Jalen Green.

With a new young core and armed with a treasure chest of draft capital, the Suns set themselves up with a bright future after a potential Booker trade.
