Emergency response trailer stolen from La Crescenta

A trailer housing thousands of dollars of emergency supplies, including medical supplies and radios was stolen from the 2700 block of Foothill Avenue in La Crescenta.

The trailer, which serves as the base for the Community Emergency Response Team, or CERT, for the Crescenta Valley, was taken in the early hours of Wednesday, Oct. 22, authorities said.

The trailer is owned by the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Support Group, a nonprofit, and was full of donated supplies for medical and other emergencies, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Crescenta Valley sheriff’s station reported. CERT volunteers train to respond to emergencies in their communities until first responders arrive, focusing on fire safety, disaster medical and search and rescue basics.

The trailer is white with green and yellow stripes and bears the Crescenta Valley CERT logo.

Paul Dutton has been coordinating and instructing the CERT program in Crescenta Valley for the last 25 years and donated much of the now missing supplies, according to a Facebook post by Dutton.

Dutton estimated the supplies in the stolen trailer are worth over $17,000 in total.

Authorities ask anyone with information regarding the trailer theft to contact Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station Detective Carmen Gudiel at 818-248-4010.
