It’s Obvious That Christine Brown and Janelle Brown Were Never Really Friends

Christine Brown and Janelle Brown appeared to be the best of friends immediately following the end of their marriages to Kody Brown. The former sister wives worked together and seemed bonded, but some followers always suspected the close-knit relationship would be short-lived. It looks like they were correct. Christine has recently spoken about Janelle, suggesting there is significant tension among the former family members. We think the Sister Wives stars were never actually friends to begin with. They now appear to have an actual feud.

They wrote about disliking each other years ago

Following the October 19 episode of Sister Wives, fans were quick to take to social media to discuss the rift that appeared to have formed between Christine Brown and Janelle Brown. Some fans have viewed the former sister wives as forever friends. Still, if we look back at how their life together began, they were anything but friends.

<figure class=”wp-block-image size-full” id=”emb-1″><img decoding=”async” fetchpriority=”high” width=”1800″ height=”900″ src=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/meri-brown-christine-brown-janelle-brown-robyn-brown.jpg?strip=all&quality=89″ alt=”Meri Brown, Christine Brown, Janelle Brown, and Robyn Brown of TLC’s ‘Sister Wives'” class=”wp-image-3630627″>
Meri Brown, Christine Brown, Janelle Brown, and Robyn Brown of TLC’s ‘Sister Wives’ | TLC

In the family’s first book, which we later learned was largely sugarcoated, the former sister wives both admitted they weren’t fond of each other. Janelle even admitted to thinking of Christine as a bit of a “princess.” Christine later revealed that she didn’t consider Janelle a true friend until she began thinking about leaving Kody Brown. If you take what both women said about their early interactions, they were never actually friends.

Janelle seemed irritated with Christine Brown speaking for her more than a year ago

For years, Sister Wives viewers have argued that Kody Brown and Robyn Brown were bonded together by their shared enemies. They seemed to connect by hating the people they believed saw them as the family’s villains. While we don’t disagree with the theory, it seems to have been a pretty common theme within the Brown family. Janelle Brown and Christine Brwon stuck together immediately after their splits, bonded by their common enemies: Robyn and Kody Brown. Things have changed quickly, though.

Did Janelle Brown Spot David Woolley’s Red Flag in the ‘Sister Wives’ Premiere?

It has been years since they left, though, and now it’s becoming obvious that as those common enemies fade into the background, they don’t have much to connect them. In fact, it seems they kind of rub each other the wrong way. Janelle seems to have reached that conclusion quickly than Christine. Last season, Janelle made a few passing comments that suggested she didn’t particularly care for the way Christine talked over her and spoke for her. She echoed similar sentiments during separate interviews as well. In fact, we can’t help but wonder if the big move to North Carolina was partially to put some space between herself and her old life, including Christine.

Christine Brown is clearly jealous of Janelle now

Following the end of their marriages to Kody bROWN, Janelle and Christine went their separate ways from the Brown family, but they did it sort of together. Christine was the “leader” in those early days, opting to find love again in the loudest way possible. She started her new life and seemed to relish the attention she was getting. Now, Janelle has taken the reins of her own life, moving to the East Coast and building a sustainable business with her daughter and son-in-law.

In the last episode of Sister Wives, Christine admitted to feeling a bit “jealous” of Janelle. She claimed, during a confessional, that Janelle’s statement about having the grandchildren near her in North Carolina made her so angry that she wanted to “slap” her former sister wife. Christine tried to push the narrative that she’s really angry that the kids have opted to move away from her. Still, we aren’t sure that’s all there is to it. It seems clear to longtime viewers that she’s also annoyed that Janelle has quickly become the center of attention instead of her. The sentiment seems to indicate that Christine and Janelle Brown were never friends. It now feels like Janelle was simply a sidekick who worked into Christn’s narrative for a time.

Whether or not this turns into a full-blown feud is anyone’s guess. Still, it seems possible. The Browns tend to hold grudges. They also blow things way out of proportion. We can’t imagine that this situation would be much different.
