The Seattle Seahawks have cut ties with a former third-round draft pick.
Wide receiver Tyler Scott was released from the teamâs practice squad Friday, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston.
Scott was signed to the practice squad earlier this month but did not appear in a regular-season game for the Seahawks.
Scott Looking for Next NFL Opportunity
Scott, the 133rd overall pick in 2023 out of Cincinnati, spent his first two NFL seasons with the Chicago Bears, appearing in 28 games. All four of his starts came as a rookie when he had 17 catches for 168 yards. He added one catch for five yards across 11 games in 2024.
Scott also saw action on special teams over the last two seasons, returning 13 kicks for a total of 315 yards.
He was waived in August as part of the Bearsâ final roster cuts. He signed with the Indianapolis Coltsâ practice squad two days later but was released following Week 3.
The 5-foot-10 Scott flashed big-play potential at Cincinnati, where he had 899 receiving yards and nine touchdowns on 54 catches during his final collegiate season in 2022. But itâs yet to translate to the NFL, and the Seahawks â his third team in as many seasons â didnât wait long to move on.
That said, heâs still only 24 and should have plenty of chances to latch on elsewhere.
Seahawks Bring Back Undrafted Rookie Receiver
In a corresponding move, the Seahawks brought back undrafted free agent receiver Tyrone Broden. The Arkansas product impressed during training camp but was released earlier this month to make room for Scott on the practice squad.
The 6-5 Broden is an intriguing talent because of his size, but heâs still raw and will need time to develop on Seattleâs practice squad.
The Seahawks will visit the Washington Commanders on Sunday Night Football in Week 9 following their bye. At 5-2, they are tied with the Los Angeles Rams for the NFC West lead.
