Dolphins Trade Proposal Sends Star Player To The Giants After Injury

The Miami Dolphins had by far their best game of the season in week 8, as the team defeated the Atlanta Falcons 34-10.

However, now sitting at 2-6, it may well be too little, too late, for Miami, who have a long, long way to go before they can even sniff something resembling playoff contention. Especially given that their next two games have them go up against the Josh Allen-led Buffalo Bills and the (probably) Lamar Jackson-led Baltimore Ravens.

So in that case, despite the win on Sunday, the Dolphins will likely remain sellers at the trade deadline on November 4.

As a result, a new in-house trade proposal has them send one of their top offensive skill players, DeVon Achane, to the NFC East’s New York Giants to replace rookie sensation, Cam Skattebo, who suffered a dislocated ankle on Sunday.

According to Dr. David Chao, a medical professional who used to work as the head team doctor for the Los Angeles Chargers, Skattebo’s 2025 is almost certainly finished.

“With Cam Skattebo, it’s never good when the ankle is facing a different direction than the rest of the leg, ankle, and foot. This means surgery, his season is done.” Dr. Chao said after the Giants game on Sunday.

This view was subsequently reinforced later on, as it was confirmed after the game that Skattebo was undergoing surgery.

The Giants Could Certainly Be Incentivized To Move For The Ex-3rd Rounder

If one had asked just a few weeks ago, the Giants would not be a prime contender to trade for anyone at the deadline. And sitting – like the Dolphins – at 2-6 – the road to the postseason is murky at very best.

However, situationally the teams do not feel like equals. The Giants won 2/3 before a late comeback loss to the Broncos in week 7, followed by week 8’s defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles.

And not only does their momentum feel higher, having been buoyed by the discovery and play of quarterback, Jaxson Dart, and running back, Skattebo – but head coach, Brian Daboll and GM, Joe Schoen know they are in the last chance saloon. Anything but a season that shows legitimate success in some form will very likely result in their permanent dismissal from the organization.

What Would The Dolphins Need In Return To Move Achane?

So it figures that the Giants would be willing to give up reasonable capital in order to preserve the excellent dual-threat of Achane and Dart.

Currently in his third year, New York would not need to pay Achane for another 1.5 seasons, and in the meantime they get a new RB1 for 2025, and set up a potentially lethal tailback duo for the 2026 season, unless they decide to flip him to another, more contending team after the year is done.

Positionally, running backs do not require vast amounts of draft picks in compensation, but Achane is easily a top-10 player at his position in the league, with many considering him a borderline top-5, and is a boon in both the passing and the run game.

New York Giants receive: DeVon Achane, 2026 seventh round pick

Miami Dolphins receive: 2026 third round pick, 2026 fourth round pick
