OAKLAND — Two men have been sentenced for killing a 29-year-old during a 2020 home invasion robbery, but one of the defendants also pleaded no contest to a second homicide that occurred just two days later, court records show.
Stephen Head, 24, of Tracy, and Gregory Ignacio, 48, both pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter in the Sept. 28, 2020 killing of Daniel Lucero. As part of plea deals finalized earlier this year, Head was sentenced to 18 years in prison, and Ignacio — who was the suspect in a second homicide — was sentenced to 23 years, court records show.
Ignacio also pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of Noel Santillán Reséndiz Jr., 36, who was killed on Sept. 30, 2020, by multiple suspects inside a home on International Boulevard in East Oakland. His body was dumped in West Oakland.
In 2023, a third suspect, Dominic Glover, 22, pleaded no contest to assault with a firearm for non-fatally shooting a man during the Sept. 28, 2020 incident. He was sentenced to six years in prison, records show.
According to police, the robbers burst into a home on the 1700 block of Church Street in Oakland and shot Lucero as he attempted to run away. They were arrested and charged weeks later, in November 2020.
Then, in early 2022, police linked Ignacio to Santillán Reséndiz and he was charged with a second count of murder. The plea deal gives him 21 years for Lucero’s killing and a consecutive two-year sentence for the killing of Santillán Reséndiz, records show.
