Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is a man of many talents, and he’s looking to add one more title to his resume — curse breaker.
Allen is coming off the first MVP season of his career and has expanded his off-the-field ventures with a series of new endorsements, commercials, and appearances. The telegenic quarterback has another new appearance on the way, one that will see him linking up with a legendary NFL signal-caller.
Josh Allen, Peyton Manning Working Together to Bust the Curse
ESPN announced on Tuesday that Allen would be featured on the upcoming season of “Peyton’s Places,” the show hosted by Peyton Manning as he meets up with NFL stars and addresses some of the league’s lore.
The network’s press release noted that Manning will delve into some NFL history, including the history of Buffalo’s Super Bowl curse.
“Throughout the season, Peyton attempts to lift the Buffalo curse alongside Bills Mafia and quarterback Josh Allen, dives into the history of the quarterback sneak with former Eagles center Jason Kelce, and heads to Malibu for a wild ride with Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh inspired by The Rockford Files,” the release noted.
The episode will be released on Sunday, Nov. 2, on ESPN+.
Long before Manning entered the NFL and years before Allen was born, the Bills endured four consecutive Super Bowl losses that marked the franchise as “cursed.” A clip of the upcoming season of “Peyton’s Places” showed Manning and Allen launching a barrel over Niagara Falls in an attempt to break the curse once and for all.
Allen is no stranger to television, having appeared in numerous commercials and competed in a televised golf match that saw him teaming with Patrick Mahomes to face Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers.
Big Week for the Bills
The announcement came before what has become one of the most anticipated NFL games of the year, the annual meeting between the Bills and Kansas City Chiefs. The Bills have won the last four regular-season meetings between the teams, but the Chiefs have gotten the better of the Bills in all four playoff appearances since 2020.
Allen has maintained an even keel with this and every game, telling People magazine that he works hard to avoid getting too high or too low during games.
âJust talking to myself and be like, alright, breathe,â Allen said. âTake it one moment at a time. Don’t get too high, don’t get too low. And obviously there’s times where you got to let your emotion out on the football field, and I feel like that helps guys gravitate towards the common goal of trying to win a football game. But again, being here, not being here, but kind of somewhere in the middle. And that’s what I try to do.â
The stakes could be a bit higher this year as both teams are in an unfamiliar place — out of the division lead. The Bills have fallen behind the 6-2 New England Patriots, while the Chiefs are still trying to make up ground since falling to 0-2 and trail the Denver Broncos for the lead in the AFC West.
