BERKELEY – A 44-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman have been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting earlier this month in Berkeley, police said.
The shooting happened around 6:20 p.m. on Oct. 12 in the 1000 block of Addison Street, the Berkeley Police Department said, adding it appeared to stem from an altercation on the street.
Witness statements and video surveillance indicated the man fired a handgun into a home and then left the area in a white Honda SUV the woman was driving, police said.
Warrants were issued for the suspects. On Oct. 24, officers arrested the man as he got off a plane at San Francisco International Airport. The woman was arrested Monday in Berkeley.
On Tuesday, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged both suspects with shooting at an occupied dwelling and negligent discharge of a firearm, police said.
In addition, the man is facing charges of criminal possession of a firearm while masked, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, and the woman is facing a charge of being an accessory, police said.
