Giannis Antetokounmpo Drops Massive Confession About Knicks Rumors

The future of Giannis Antetokounmpo with the Milwaukee Bucks was in question throughout the offseason. One of the teams rumored to be interested was the New York Knicks. “The Greek Freak” broke his silence on a report about the Big Apple being his preferred destination.

Speaking to reporters after the Bucks beat the Knicks on Tuesday night at the Fiserv Forum, Antetokounmpo was asked about New York. The two-time NBA MVP claimed that he never heard or read about ESPN’s report earlier this month about his camp making the Knicks a trade target.

“I don’t remember that. Right now, I’m here representing my team, and that’s it. We beat the Knicks. So it doesn’t matter. What matters right now is we have a game in two days against Golden State. Try to stay locked in and get two in a row, but I didn’t read that article. I try to stay away from all that rumors and speculation and trades. It doesn’t concern me one bit. I try to involve myself and I try to help my team win games,” Antetokounmpo said, via the New York Post.

Shams Charania reported that there were negotiations between the Knicks and Bucks this past summer, but nothing came to fruition. Milwaukee was not too thrilled that the Knicks didn’t make a huge offer for one of the best players in the world.

Giannis Drops 37 Points in Win Over Knicks

Despite being down by double digits in the first half, Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks overcame a 14-point deficit to beat the New York Knicks, 121-111. Antetokounmpo led the way with 37 points, eight rebounds and seven assists on 16-for-22 shooting.

The Bucks began their comeback bid midway through the third quarter and never looked back. They weathered Jalen Brunson‘s 36-point night by limiting Karl-Anthony Towns to just eight points from 12 shots. Ryan Rollins was also brilliant for Milwaukee, finishing with 25 points, four assists and four steals.

The Bucks improved to 3-1 to start the season, with their lone loss being against the Cleveland Cavaliers. They get their first real test on October 30, when Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors visit the Fiserv Forum.

The Knicks, on the other hand, dropped to 2-2 under new coach Mike Brown. They visit the undefeated Chicago Bulls on October 31 for their first group stage game of the 2025 NBA Cup.

Mikal Bridges Comments on Giannis-Knicks Rumors

Giannis Antetokounmpo wasn’t the only player asked about his links to the New York Knicks. Mikal Bridges was questioned about his thoughts on the rumors of the Knicks possibly acquiring a player like “The Greek Freak.”

“Yeah, nothing we can do. They know we don’t have control about it. It’s whatever. Do whatever I was doing…Just chilling, doing what I was doing, going about my day,” Bridges said, via SNY.

According to Fanspo, the Knicks only have four future first-round picks in 2026, 2028, 2030 and 2032 left in their asset vault. They have really good players to entice the Bucks to trade Antetokounmpo, but picks are more important for a rebuilding franchise.
