âThe Lord of the Ringsâ actor Elijah Wood shocked a bride and groom at their wedding when he crashed the ceremony in a heartwarming encounter. In footage shared online, the movie star can be seen interacting with the happy couple and getting photographs with those involved.
Elijah Wood Crashes Wedding
In a video shared by Hobbiton Movie Set, a New Zealand-based company that operates tours of The Shire set from âThe Lord of the Ringsâ films, the Hollywood actor is seen discovering the wedding taking place.
Standing at the back behind the guests, he is immediately recognized by the bride and groom. Wood is seemingly reluctant to interrupt at first, but is gently encouraged by the wedding photographer to meet the couple. He then moves forward and poses with the newlyweds to the delight of all those watching on, snapping several photographs.
It was a kindhearted moment that showcased Wood’s gentle and friendly nature, giving the bride and groom lifelong memories.
The Photos From The Day
Wedding photographer Cath Ullyett, who was capturing the event, also shared photographs of Wood with the couple.
âJess and Sharik had the most welcome surprise guest at their Hobbiton wedding yesterday,â she wrote on Instagram. âWhile they were signing their wedding documents, Elijah and his family were escorted past the ceremony garden, and had stopped to watch.â
She continued, âAfter the couple had finished signing, I rushed around to meet him and asked him to come and have a few photos with the couple. Being the gentleman he is, he didn’t want to interfere, however, with some friendly encouragement, he stepped in and was welcomed by all. Thank you Elijah for making their special.day even more memorable.â
The Celebrant Also Got in on the Action
It wasn’t just the happy couple who were able to get pictures with Wood. The movie star also obliged celebrant Terry Fergusson-Hughes, the man performing the ceremony. After getting photographs with the bride and groom, the movie star looked to make a quick exit to not steal any of the limelight, but was more than happy to stay for a little longer when the celebrant asked for his own photograph.
Fergusson-Hughes shared the images on his Instagram page, showing a smiling Wood. He accompanied the photographs with a caption, writing, âA blustery day for a wedding in Hobbiton, however, what are the chances of meeting this guy. The shire gods were definitely on our side!â
