One of the biggest names from Saturday night TV in the nineties is set to make a shock comeback after 25 years.

Mr Blobby, who originally featured on Noel Edmond’s House Party show onBBC One, is said to be making a return after finding a new generation of younger fans thanks to online clips.

The iconic legend, who has been described as ‘terrifying’ by viewers, only communicated by saying the word ‘blobby’.

He is also known for causing absolute mayhem wherever he goes, and is especially remembered for that viral moment on This Morning when he trashed the set.

According to The Sun, Unique Television – who owns the character – has lodged paperwork online to protect Mr Blobby’s trademark ahead of his supposed return.

The character – who was portrayed by Barry Killerby from 1992 to 2015 until Paul Denson took over – was especially used on Noel’s House Party during the ‘Gotcha!’ segments with celebrity guests.

At one point the character became such a cultural phenomenon that it reached number one in the UK charts with a Christmas single.

His TV return is expected to include promo appearances and TV spots.

He also reunited with his House Party sidekick Noel during an episode of Good Morning Britain last year.

In 2023, an original Mr Blobby costume was auctioned off on eBay and sold for a hefty £62,000.

The seller wrote the following about the costume: ‘This was made by the BBC’s costume supplier for an overseas version of Noel’s House Party.

‘Unfortunately before it could be delivered the overseas show was cancelled and neither the broadcaster or the BBC’s production team wanted it – so it sat in my office until a move meant it came home with me some years ago.’

They added that due to the fact that the ensemble was over 25 years old, there was ‘inevitable ageing to the foam and the rubberised coating’.

However, just hours after winning the bid, the buyer backed out of the sale.

According to the BBC, the buyer changed their mind just an hour after the bids closed.

Speaking to the outlet, the anonymous seller said: ‘Ironically, it was being sold not to make money but to make space.’

‘I don’t think you can lose something you’ve never had,’ they added about their £62k ‘loss’.

In the same year he then continued to cause chaos on Britain’s Got Talent as he tormented Simon Cowell.
