The Buffalo Bills will most likely make a move or two ahead of the upcoming trade deadline. The reigning AFC East champions enter a highly anticipated matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs on November 2 with a 5-2 record. NFL MVP Josh Allen, alongside star running back James Cook, continues to make Buffalo a real contender. Nevertheless, the Bills undoubtedly still have multiple weak spots with their roster.
While Cook gives the Bills a top running threat, Allen has not had much help from his receiving corps so far this season. As a result, Buffalo would love to add a top receiver before the trade deadline on November 4. Miami Dolphins star wideout Jaylen Waddle could become available in the coming days. A potential deal with an intense rival, however, may be complicated.
On the other side of the ball, the Bills could use reinforcements along the defensive line and in the secondary. Up front, Arizona Cardinals star Calais Campbell would be a perfect target for Buffalo, according to ESPN’s Bill Barnwell. The six-time NFL Pro Bowler previously signed a one-year deal with Arizona and could be available in a trade. This comes as the NFC West team sits at the bottom of the division with a 2-5 record.
The Buffalo Bills Need Defensive Help Due to Ed Oliver’s Injury

GettyEd Oliver’s injury compounds Buffalo’s defensive issues.
Buffalo’s need for a defensive tackle was amplified due to a massive injury blow to Ed Oliver. The standout suffered a torn left bicep during his team’s win against the Carolina Panthers on October 26. Oliver is the Bills undisputed top player at the position.
An exact timeline of Oliver’s injury is not yet known, but he is expected to at least miss the rest of the regular season. The star has told TMZ Sports that he hopes to return to the field in time for the Super Bowl, assuming Buffalo reaches the big game. This, however, could be an extremely optimistic opinion from the former first-round pick.
Along with Oliver, the Bills are also currently without DaQuan Jones and DeWayne Carter at the position. Jones has not practiced in the days leading up to the matchup with the Chiefs, and Carter is currently on season-ending injured reserve. On a positive note, fellow defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi is now available after being suspended for the first six games of the season.
Bills Would Need to Give Cardinals Day 2 Pick for Campbell
Campbell, 39, would likely garner a fifth-round pick from the Bills. While he is edging close to retirement, the veteran is still performing well for the disappointing Cardinals. According to Pro-Football-Reference.com, Campbell has racked up 19 tackles, three sacks, and five tackles for loss in seven games with Arizona. No Bills player currently has more than three sacks on the season.
Along with his solid stats, Campbell has also earned a 78.3 overall Pro Football Focus grade on the campaign. At the moment, this is the 12th-best grade among all interior defensive linemen in the league. Potentially acquiring Campbell would give the Bills much-needed help at the position, while also adding veteran leadership in the team. Buffalo relies heavily on Josh Allen, but their defense cannot be a glaring weakness heading towards the playoffs.
Buffalo Bills receive: Calais Campbell
Arizona Cardinals receive: 5th-round pick
