American singer-songwriter Benson Boone has cancelled a show in his UK tour – one hour before he was due to take to the stage.
The pop star, 23, is best known for his 2024 hit Beautiful Things, which topped charts around the world, peaking at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 in the USA.
Benson is currently playing venues in the UK as part of his American Heart World Tour.
This includes dates in London, Germany and Sweden, before culminating in a show at Etihad Park in Abu Dhabi on December 4.
The tour was scheduled to include a concert at the Birmingham Utilita Arena on Saturday, November 1.
Unfortunately, eager audiences were disappointed to find that the show had been cancelled… with many already queueing to get inside as the news dropped.
Taking to his Instagram Stories, the musician wrote: ‘Birmingham I am so sorry but I will not be able to perform tonight.
He continued: ‘I have tried everything I can to revive my voice, but I will not be able to give you with the condition of my throat right now.’
Promising that he was working with his team to reschedule a date ‘as soon as possible,’ he described the decision as ‘genuinely the crappiest feeling.’
He added: ‘I promise you I will do everything in my power to take it up to you,’ before vowing to keep fans updated.
‘Thank you for everything you do. I love you guys so much,’ he signed off.
Taking to social media in the aftermath of the concert’s cancellation, fans shared their frustration at the situation.
‘My wife and daughter were in the queue. Yards away from entering the arena,’ wrote a dismayed BarnabyBrunt on X.
‘Came all the way to Birmingham for benson boone got to the arena and he’s cancelled the show,’ said starrlightt13.
Lozzjarvis added: ‘I go home, get changed and head straight up to Birmingham to watch Benson Boone for it to be cancelled half an hour after the doors should have opened.. Just get me to bed, today’s been a write off.’
‘Just stood queuing for 80 minutes to see the Benson Boone gig in Birmingham only for it to be cancelled last minute,’ revealed DarthMole.
Earlier this year, the Slow It Down star was also forced to apologise after ‘aggressively’ adjusting his crotch at the Grammy Awards.
His performance featured a raunchy sequence in which comedian Nikki Glaser and model Heidi Klum ripped off his clothes to reveal a tight-fitting blue jumpsuit.
After backflipping off a piano, he appeared to grab his crotch, in order to reposition his manhood in the skintight outfit.
This move left some viewers at home clutching their pearls, with with X user 12yearoldlamb writing: ‘Couldn’t have waited 3 minutes till getting off the stage. What happened to Decorum?’
However, many saw the funny side, such as MrsCharatan, who joked: ‘He fixed his little Benson!’
