Celebrity Traitors star Alan Carr has spoken of how he’s been forced to flee to Orlando, Florida, after becoming the UK’s ‘most hated man.’

Chatty man Alan, 49, has emerged the runaway star of this year’s Celebrity Traitors, marking his territory by ‘murdering’ long-time friend Paloma Faith in the series’s first kill.

Since then, Alan’s confidence has blossomed – managing to outstay fellow Traitor Jonathan Ross, who was banished last week.

And with Alan having done away with another fan favourite in plain sight – actress, national treasure, and scene-stealing farter Celia Imrie – Alan’s dastardly behaviour seemingly knows no bounds.

Rugby player Joe Marler and Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed are onto Alan and third Traitor Cat Burns, but there’s no guarantee that they’ll find the votes to banish them before the series enters its endgame.

With the final episode of the series approaching, Alan has joked about how he’s fled the country to escape backlash for his crimes.

Recording their Heart radio show from Universal Studios in Florida, hosts Olly Murs and Mark Wright welcomed Alan, who also happened to be in the neighbourhood.

After being greeted as a ‘legend’ and a ‘traitor,’ Alan joked: ‘Oh, you had to bring that up. I’m the most hated man in the UK.

‘I’ve had to come to Orlando to get away from it all,’ he continued. ‘Everyone hates me, so I’ve had to come here. I just need to get away because it’s stressful murdering every day.’

Alan shocked audiences with an astonishing act of betrayal, ‘murdering’ Paloma by brushing her face to mark his impending kill.

The next day, Paloma was placed in a coffin where she – and her fellow Faithfuls – learned her fate.

A smart move by Alan, as many assumed that he’d never kill bestie Paloma – including Paloma herself, who described his actions as ‘bang out of order.’

Last week, Alan gave an update on how his friendship with Paloma is going, telling DJ Norman Cook: ‘She’s not happy about it.’

Speaking on his Life’s A Beach podcast, Alan continued: ‘She said, “If you were a real friend, you wouldn’t have killed me.” But I said, “I’m the Traitor! The show’s called The Traitors – it does what it says on the tin.”

‘There’ve been a few little TikToky things where she says I’ve let her down because I killed her in plain sight.’

Sharing his plan to make amends, Alan revealed: ‘I’m going to take her for dinner. I love her. I’m such a big fan of her, and she’s the best – but no one wants to be murdered first on a show. I panicked.’

Alan struck again a few episodes later, killing Harry Potter star Celia Imrie – also in plain sight of the other celebrities.

However, he did reveal a sense of guilt at taking down the much-loved thespian.

‘I took Celia’s head because I missed her,’ said Alan in last week’s head-carrying task.

‘Even though I murdered her, I had pangs of guilt!’ he added.

Celia marks Alan and Cat’s final murder on the show. As the final episode beckons, only Alan, Cat, Joe, Nick and historian David Olusoga remain.

After their last mission, the celebrities will face one final round table, during which the banished won’t reveal whether they’re Faithful or Traitor.

Alan’s survived his many slip-ups (including an incident where he forgot he had a shield) and might well take home the jackpot on Thursday.

Just ask banished Faithful Kate Garraway, who revealed on Good Morning Britain: ‘I just have a sneaky feeling it’s going to be a Traitor and I have a sneaky feeling it’s going to be Alan.

‘I think he’s a megastar. But I don’t know; that’s just what I think.’

Celebrity Traitors returns for the final episode next Thursday at 9pm on BBC One.
