Thunder Guard Gives Details on Terrifying Burglary

While the Oklahoma City Thunder have been winning games, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been focusing on something more. He has helped the Thunder win seven straight games to start the season, just a year after winning the NBA title.

Gilgeous-Alexander has been the best player on the best team in the league again, but he is dealing with a massive issue on a personal level. There was a break-in at his home while the Thunder were playing in a game just before Halloween against the Wizards.

There has been a string of high-profile burglaries that have been attributed to alleged organized criminal activities. While Gilgeous-Alexander wasn’t at home during this break-in, he gave some terrifying details of what happened while he was playing.

Thunder Guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Gives Positive Update After Break-In

While speaking to reporters following a win against the Pelicans, SGA made sure to let them know that everyone is safe following the incident.

“Long story short, everybody’s safe, and that’s all that really matters in the whole thing. Everything else can come and go, but my loved ones are safe, so I’m OK. I’m happy.”

This clearly didn’t affect him too much when it came to his on-court performance. Gilgeous-Alexander was still able to score 30 points against the Pelicans in just 30 minutes played. He didn’t let his personal life mess with his ability to score the ball.

The Thunder are now 7-0 and the last undefeated team remaining in the NBA. With this win, they haven’t lost a game since Game 6 of the NBA Finals in June against the Indiana Pacers. The Thunder won 68 games last season, and look better this season.

At this time, it’s unclear whether or not anything was stolen or if anyone was home during the incident. The Associated Press reported that police have not released additional details. The Police also declared that no arrests have been made yet.

The Thunder Continue Historic Play Thanks To Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

To this point in the season, no one has come close to matching the Thunder’s level of play. Oklahoma City has the second-best defense in the league, allowing just under 110 points per game. They also have scored the seventh-most points per game, as well.

This incident certainly has to be unsettling for Gilgeous-Alexander. It remains unlikely that he will have to take time off to further deal with this. It’s unclear what steps he will take to further deter this behavior from criminals in the future, but he will certainly take action.

Oklahoma City entered this season as the prohibitive favorites to win the NBA title after capturing the championship last season. So far, nothing they have done has changed that. They have started this season healthy, which is better than some other contenders.

Gilegous-Alexander is the third-leading scorer in the league so far this season. He won the scoring title last year, becoming the first player in 25 seasons to win MVP, the scoring title, and the NBA championship. Shaquille O’Neal was the other player, who also beat the Pacers in the Finals.
