VIDEO: Watch coach Ben Johnson lead raucous Bears locker room after win

Bears coach Ben Johnson’s typically subdued during his postgame press conferences.

In the minutes before, though, he’s something completely different, huddling his team in the locker room and leading them in a cheer after they win.

After Sunday’s 47-42 win against the Bengals, Johnson acknowledged just how insane the path was to victory after the Bears blew a 14-point lead in the final two minutes. But the Bears were 5-3 at the halfway point of the season, something he was proud of.

“I know it wasn’t (freaking) pretty,” he said. “But don’t apologize for a win in this league….

“If it is close in the fourth in the fourth quarter, you better (freaking) watch out.”

He gave out game balls to rookies Kyle Monangai and Colston Loveland before breaking down the huddle with the team’s “Good, Better, Best” cheer, something Johnson learned when he played at A.C. Reynolds High School in Asheville, NC: “Good better best/ Never let it rest/ Til your good gets better/your better gets best”

“I think there’s something to be said when a group of men they’re all believing the same thing, they’re saying the same thing,” he said last month. “It’s one heartbeat, one voice, and I think our guys have enjoyed it.”

The Packers are on top of the North at 5-2-1, followed closely by the Bears and Lions at 5-3 and the Vikings at 4-4. It’s the only division in the NFL in which every team is .500 or better.
The Bears signed Odeyingbo to a three-year, $48 million contract in the offseason hoping he’d help their pass rush.
The Bears beat the Bengals on Sunday.
