Fearne Cotton has shared a supernatural experience she had when a ghost got into bed with her while she was staying at an old pub on a work trip. Yikes.

The former TV presenter, 44, was discussing all things spooky with This Country duo Daisy May Cooper and Charlie Cooper on her Happy Place podcast, after the siblings embarked on their own BBC documentary show Night Watch in which they stay in the UK’s most haunted buildings.

After discussing Daisy’s disembodied ghost of a child she saw in her new build – more on that later – when asked if she’d ever seen a ghost, Fearne replied that she’s had two memorable experiences.

‘I’ve had a couple. I don’t know if I’ve seen a ghost,’ Fearne began.

‘I remember being in this really old pub that was a hotel I was staying in for work. At 2am something got into bed with me, to the point where I felt a weight drop next to me and it woke me up. Then I was checking the cupboards, it shook me up so bad.’

Another time, Fearne woke up to find a painting – which is usually securely positioned on the wall, fastened with a nail – in the middle of the room.

‘I was like, how the hell has a painting gone from being hung neatly on the wall and then on the floor here?’ she wondered.

Fearne went on to explain: ‘Anyway, I get up, my mum rings me. She’s like, “I’ve got something really sad to tell you. Your grandad died last night.”

‘He was really into paintings so I instantly made that connection. I thought maybe it’s a sign from my grandad.

‘There’s no other explanation as to how that painting could have gone from the wall to the floor. It’s too weird.’

Fearne reflected that these experiences aren’t always scary, but can actually be ‘comforting’, which Daisy agreed with, having previously told Metro she experienced the presence of her late This Country co-star Michael Sleggs after asking him to contact her from the other side.

After the death of Sleggs, who died aged 33 in 2019 from heart failure, Daisy explained how a ‘veil lifted’ and she’s had a number of supernatural experiences since.

Once, she saw a pair of severed legs of a little boy running around her room, and when friends came to stay they reported strange happenings on the top floor, while her cleaner talked of paintings miraculously moving themselves.

Later, Daisy discovered her new build house was located beside the site of an abandoned railway, famous for transporting injured soldiers.

There was also a boy who drowned in the nearby lake – which you can see from the window of her house – in 1959.

Ghost-curious Charlie, star of Myth Country, is yet to have a supernatural experience himself, and he’s on the fence about whether these entities are real or not.

Daisy meanwhile has even appeared on the BBC podcast Uncanny to talk about her ghostly experiences with host Danny Robins, who has built up a somewhat cult-like following with his show, which aims to tackle ridicule and taboo surrounding unexplainable experiences.

Danny also wrote the West End play 2:22 A Ghost Story, which has starred the likes of Cheryl and Lily Allen (yes, it is that play Lily sings of in her new album West End Girl…)

It’s been a tough few years for Fearne, after announcing she and husband Jesse Wood were splitting after almost a decade together this time last year.

They married in 2014 and welcomed two children – son Rex, 11, and daughter Honey, 8 – as well as parenting Jesse’s own children from a previous relationship.

Last December, Fearne also had two benign tumours surgically removed on her neck, later confirming the procedures were completed without hiccup while she candidly revealed her scars.
