Jets Trade Pitch Delivers First-Round Pick for Star Team Captain

The New York Jets might receive an offer they can’t refuse.

Heavy Sports’ Max Dible proposed a deal ahead of the Tuesday, November 4 NFL Trade Deadline.

Baltimore Ravens receive: defensive tackle Quinnen Williams

New York Jets receive: a 2026 first-round pick

“New York is willing to move off of a star DT in Williams for a first-rounder, while the Ravens need help along the defensive line, particularly getting more physical and tougher at the point of attack. Baltimore was all-in on this season before stumbling out of the gates and falling to 1-5 after Lamar Jackson’s injury. But the team is 2-0 since and still somehow favored to win the AFC North, even if by only a slight margin. The Ravens will be buyers ahead of the deadline if they’re anything, and trading for Williams is the type of move that makes sense for a team with Baltimore’s talent and aspirations,” Dible explained.

Insider Shares His Perspective on Williams Jets Trade Chatter

NFL Insider Jay Glazer shared the latest trade rumors on the “NFL on FOX pregame show.”

“Some of the teams have called asking about Quinnen Williams. They have said, ‘No, you gotta blow us out of the water like a Micah [Parsons] type trade.’ I don’t see that happening,” Glazer said on Sunday, November 2.

Right before the season, the Dallas Cowboys shipped off Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two future first-round picks.

This Dible trade idea wouldn’t quite reach that level, but a first-round pick is a premium prize that can help accelerate a rebuild.

Jets Are Coming to a Fork in the Road

This offseason, the Jets are going to have a decision to make.

Williams is 27, but by the time the offseason arrives, he will be 28. He only has $5 million in guaranteed money left on his contract. He isn’t scheduled to be a free agent until 2028.

The Jets will have to decide whether to extend his contract or to trade him to the highest bidder in the offseason. Williams has expressed a desire to have his contract altered, according to NFL Insider Connor Hughes of SNY. So far, the Jets have rebuffed those talks.

Williams Has Already Displayed Frustration With the Losing

This offseason, the Jets decided to part ways with future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Williams was not pleased with that decision.

In a since-deleted tweet, Williams responded, “Another rebuild year for me I guess 🙄.”

Williams was the No. 3 overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft. He came from Alabama, where all he knew was winning. Well, with the Jets, all he has come to know is losing.

Since Williams joined the Jets, they have a 33-75 record. Since 2019, they haven’t had a winning season, they haven’t sniffed the playoffs, and this season is no different.

At 1-7 it’s only a matter of time before the Jets are officially eliminated from the playoffs — again. That would be the 15th year in a row that the Jets haven’t made the postseason. That is the longest drought in franchise history and the longest active drought in the NFL.

This trade idea would give the Jets future capital to work with and would allow Williams to go to a winning organization.
