It was an intense, groundbreaking NFL trade deadline for the New York Jets in 2025.
Running back Breece Hall was heavily involved in rumors and took to social media after the deadline came and went.
“Sick about my bruddas man, happy for them but man im sick rn [right now],” Hall posted in a since-deleted tweet.
During the intense final hours leading up to the trade deadline, Hall posted emojis and GIFs reacting to everything. Sauce Gardner was traded in a blockbuster deal to the Indianapolis Colts. Quinnen Williams, a short while later, was shipped off to the Dallas Cowboys.
Things Could Get Awkward Between Hall and the Jets
NFL Insider Jordan Schultz revealed that Breece Hall wanted to be traded before the deadline.
Breece “wants to be out,” Schultz shared on social media.
Despite Hall wanting out, he didn’t get his wish. Post-NFL trade deadline, Hall remains a member of the Jets.
Schultz said the “offers weren’t good enough” from other teams to take Hall away from the Jets.
With the trade deadline passed, Hall is going to remain a member of the team for the rest of 2025. Hall is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent in 2026.
Jets Haven’t Had Extension Talks With Hall
He is on pace for the best year of his career. Hall, 24, has toted the rock 117 times for 581 rushing yards and has scored twice. He has also contributed 21 catches for 178 receiving yards.
The former Iowa State product is on pace to carry the ball 249 times for 1,235 rushing yards and score four touchdowns in 2025. Through the air, he is on pace to catch 45 receptions for 378 receiving yards.
ESPN radio host Jake Asman asked NFL Insider Dianna Russini on Tuesday, November 4, if the Jets have explored extension talks with Hall.
“From my understanding, no. Which is why this has been a little bit of a scenario that everyone is watching. Because other teams know that as well, and they’re sort of seeing what they think is the writing on the wall. Well, if you are not gonna have these serious conversations about an extension, then let’s do it, let’s make a move here,” Russini said on “Bart & Carlin” on ESPN New York.
“I don’t get the sense that New York has been aggressive with Breece and his camp in trying to get a deal done in this moment,” Russini added.
Jets Will Run Hall Into the Ground, Then Figure Things out Later
The green and white are 1-7. They have nine games left in the 2025 regular season.
Hall is one of, if not the best, offensive players the Jets have on the roster. For the rest of this year, they should make him the featured weapon and feed him the ball.
If Hall has the type of year he is on pace for, then the Jets will have a decision to make this offseason.
Do they let him hit free agency and hope for a compensatory pick in 2027? Or do they franchise tag Hall, prevent him from hitting the open market, and play things out.
That could buy them more time to negotiate a potential long-term extension. Or they could attempt to tag-and-trade him during the offseason to another team that is interested in him.
