A Skokie man is due in court Wednesday accused of shooting a 23-year-old woman during an incident that a City Council member said was sparked by road rage.
Justin Abbott, 28, is charged with felony aggravated battery and was scheduled to appear for a detention hearing at the Leighton Criminal Court building.
Abbott was arrested about 9:25 a.m., moments after the victim, a 23-year-old woman, was shot in the 5700 block of North Broadway, police said.
While police could not say what sparked the shooting, 48th Ward Ald. Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth said at the time it appeared to be road-rage related, though she had no more details.
“I’m glad everyone’s alive,” Manaa-Hoppenworth said at the time when reached by a Chicago Sun-Times reporter. “People need to take care of themselves. There’s a lot going on in the world right now” Manaa-Hoppenworth added.
