The San Francisco 49ers went to the Big Apple in Week 9 to secure a 34-24 win over the New York Giants. Moreover, the loss is a challenging one for a Giants player who will be a little light in his wallet after the NFL announced its list of fines for the previous week.
On November 8, the NFL published its Gameday Accountability report for Week 9, and one player who will receive a financial penalty is the Giants’ Dane Belton.
When a fine is handed down, players are notified of the infraction and can choose to appeal. The appeals are evaluated by a panel that includes former NFL players Derrick Brooks, Ramon Foster, and Jordy Nelson, all jointly appointed and compensated by the NFL and NFLPA. Ultimately, their decisions are final and cannot be overturned.
For Belton, the league is fining him for unnecessary roughness after he hit, kicked, tripped, or used his knee on a play in the fourth quarter at the 6:11 minute mark. As a result, the NFL issued a $7,201 fine to the Giants player.
Giants Win Brings Out the Best in 49ers Player
Unlike the Giants, no 49ers player received a fine for Week 9. However, they did have a breakout player in this contest that they might hope is a positive sign going forward as they enter the second half of the 2025 NFL season. Backup running back Brian Robinson Jr had his best game with San Francisco with five rushing attempts, 53 rushing yards, and one touchdown.
After the win over the Giants on November 2, Christian McCaffrey spoke to the media and shared his thoughts on Robinson’s performance.
“It’s awesome,” McCaffrey told reporters (h/t KNBR). “He runs so hard, and it feels like this whole season it’s just been… You could tell he’s itching and might not be the way he wants it to be right now. But to have him is huge for me. It means a lot to me. He pushes me.
“The way he runs, if we can continue to get that flow of the game in there, I’m really excited. You couldn’t ask for a guy to have a better attitude coming to work every day, to have that mindset and keep pushing. Really pumped he’s in our room, and I think it’s only going to get better.”
49ers Fans Left a Good Impression
San Francisco fans had plenty to celebrate in the Week 9 victory. McCaffery came close to 200 yards from scrimmage and scored twice against New York, finding the end zone once on a rush and once through the air.
Having come from Ole Miss in the SEC, Jaxson Dart isn’t accustomed to opposing fans dominating a road stadium. After the game, he didn’t hold back in sharing his honest reaction to the 49ers fans who made the stadium feel like a home-field advantage.
“That was interesting,” Dart told reporters. “I’ve never played at a home game where I felt like it was lopsided in that department. But they have a good fan base and they traveled well.”
