After Nick Mohammed voted Joe Marler off in the Celebrity Traitors final, the rugby star looked angry at the actor’s decision.

Now, Joe, 35, has spoken about how he really feels towards Nick, 45, after he cost them both the game.

In the final episode of the hit series, Nick banished Joe, thinking he was a Traitor for saying he was ‘sorry’ to Cat as she left the roundtable.

Appearing on Saturday Kitchen, Joe told TV chef Matt Tebbutt, 51: ‘I was heartbroken.’

He went on: ‘He didn’t stick to my plan. He went with his gut, which is a shame.’

But Joe admitted that despite all this, he couldn’t help adoring Nick: ‘But I still was so in love with him, because that little dicky bow, his little face, the three little love hearts he put on my name.

‘Although in that moment I was heartbroken, I was like, “aww”.’

When Nick wrote Joe’s name on his chalkboard, @MwepuMagic on X called it a ‘horrific betrayal’.

Shaheena Uddin said: ‘I’m so disappointed by my fallen king Nick Mohammed did Joe Marler so dirty.’

And Ian Cahoon agreed: ‘Joe Marler was pounded on the rugby pitch for 20 years, but nothing hurt as badly as Nick’s 11th hour betrayal.’

The remaining Faithfuls, Nick and fellow David Olusoga, 55, decided not to banish Traitor Alan Carr, meaning the Chatty Man host won the game and claimed the prize pot of £87,500 for his chosen charity, Neuroblastoma UK.

After Nick and David walked out of the castle to greet the banished Joe and Cat Burns, the former rugby union star joked: ‘I suggest you two have your drinks on the top step.’

However, it appears any potential frustrated feelings towards Nick haven’t clouded Joe’s judgement of the Ted Lasso star.

‘I really enjoyed Nick. He is fantastic,’ Joe told Matt on Saturday Kitchen.

Nick wasn’t the only contestant Joe was complimenting on the morning show – comedian Joe Wilkinson also got a special shoutout.

The two seemed to enjoy a bromance in the castle, and Joe M confirmed people’s suspicions: ‘He’s one of the funniest blokes I’ve come across, and I just fell in love with him.’

When talking about the rest of the cast, Joe shared a story about meeting comedian Lucy Beaumont.

He explained she didn’t know who he was: ‘It was quite a big moment for me.’

Joe went on: ‘You’re in the rugby bubble, and you think, “Oh, there’s nothing bigger. You’re in this, and it’s amazing.” Everyone knows rugby.

‘You get out of it, and you go in the real world, and they’re like, “Who are you?”. And you go, “Good point”.’

Saturday Kitchen returns Saturday, November 15, at 10am on BBC One.
