Bears Share Concerning Update on DJ Moore After Win Over Giants

Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore managed to return to the field in the second half of Sunday’s win over the New York Giants after suffering an injury, but his status moving forward into Week 11 remains very much “unknown.”

Moore exited early in the second quarter against the Giants following a third-down incompletion and headed into the blue medical tent to have an injury evaluated. When he emerged, he remained on the sideline working with an elastic band on his left arm until the two-minute warning, when he and two trainers walked off to the locker room.

During halftime, the Bears announced that Moore was questionable to return with a shoulder injury, but he rejoined the lineup in the third quarter and ran several more routes before the end of the game, receiving just one more target — an incompletion.

Bears head coach Ben Johnson, however, did not have anything that qualified as good news to share about Moore during the postgame, raising at least some concern for him.

“Unknown yet, but he’ll do everything he can [to play],” Johnson said Sunday when asked about the severity of Moore’s shoulder injury. “I think we have a bunch of selfless guys on offense right now that, like I said, they’re going to do whatever they can to be out on the field for their buddies.”

DJ Moore Has Been Battling Other Injury in 2025

Moore’s shoulder injury might not raise alarm bells on its own, especially since he did return to the game against the Giants. But considering that Moore is already dealing with two other injuries, it is moderately concerning that he has added a third to the list.

The Bears have been managing hip and groin injuries with Moore since Week 6’s win against the Washington Commanders, after which he spent the night in a D.C.-area hospital. Every week since then, he has sat out the first practice and participated limitedly in the second practice before returning in full for the final walkthrough.

Fortunately for the Bears, Moore has remained involved and productive despite his injuries. He has averaged 17.1 yards per reception since the win over Washington. He had also not gone a single game all season without at least five targets in the passing game until Week 10’s injury-hampered performance against the Giants on Sunday.

The big question now is whether Moore can play through his new shoulder issue the same way that he has managed to play through his hip and groin injuries. And even if he can, the Bears must also decide whether doing so is in his and their best interests.

Bears Have Depth to Withstand a Potential WR Loss

The Bears will hope for good news about Moore’s injured shoulder in the week ahead, but they will also not need to look far for replacement options if he does miss time.

For all the shortcomings of the Bears’ 53-man roster, the wide receiver position is deep with talent. Rome Odunze is a high-quality starter who has proven that he is more than capable of handling the No. 1 receiver role. Rookie Luther Burden III has continued to shine with every opportunity on offense. And despite some drops against the Giants, Olamide Zaccheaus has been a mostly reliable extra pair of hands for Caleb Williams.

If necessary, the Bears can also dig deeper into their depth chart and call upon veteran Devin Duvernay or preseason rookie standout Jahdae Walker. Both have largely worked on special teams in 2025, but Duvernay has more than 900 career receiving yards.

It wouldn’t be ideal, but the Bears can survive if Moore needs a week or more to heal.
