Brittany Murphy became one of the most endearing actresses thanks to roles in “8 Mile,” “Clueless,” and “Girl, Interrupted.” Sadly, her life was cut short when she passed away at the age of 32 in 2009. Now, on what would have been her 48th birthday, fans are paying tribute to her legacy.

According to PEOPLE, the official cause of death was listed as pneumonia, with her battle with anemia being a contributing factor. Sadly, it was her mother, Sharon Murphy, who found her daughter’s body in their shared home.

Her husband, Simon Monjack, passed away months later in May 2010 in the same house and with the exact cause of death.

Fans are Paying Tribute to Brittany Murphy

Murphy would have turned 48 on November 10. As a result, many are flocking to social media to remember the legacy the beloved actress left behind. One person said, “Happy birthday in heaven to one of my favorite actresses, Brittany Murphy. You are deeply missed. 🤍🪽”

Someone else wrote, “Wishing a Happy Heavenly Birthday to American actress and singer Brittany Murphy, who would have been 48 years old today.”

The Pop Culture Junkie account on X stated, “Happy heavenly birthday to Brittany Murphy (1977–2009). A truly bright, unforgettable talent… from Clueless to 8 Mile. Gone far too soon, but never forgotten. 💛🎬”

A fan account for the singer Slayyyter posted, “Today is the iconic Brittany Murphy’s birthday! The actress served as inspiration for Slayyyter’s upcoming album and will even have a track named after her on the artist’s project. 🎂”

She Leaves Behind a Beautiful Legacy

According to IMDb, Murphy’s first on-screen appearances occurred in the early 1990s. They included an episode of “Murphy Brown” and several episodes of “Drexell’s Class.” From there, she also appeared in 13 episodes of “Almost Home.”

Murphy’s breakout role came in 1995 when she was cast as Tai Frasier in “Clueless.” Later, she also voiced several characters on “King of the Hill,” including Luanne Platter. Her final movie, “Something Wicked,” was filmed in the summer of 2009 and released in 2014. She’s still missed, almost 16 years after her death.
