All signs point to star guard Stephen Curry returning to the Golden State Warriors lineup for Tuesday’s contest against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Curry missed the last three games with an illness, but was upgraded to “questionable” in the hours leading up to Sunday’s clash against the Indiana Pacers. However, the Warriors took the cautious approach by sitting their franchise star against the underhanded Pacers, a decision that paid off as the Warriors won 114-83.
After Sunday’s win, head coach Steve Kerr all but confirmed that Curry would be available for Tuesday’s clash against the reigning NBA champions.
Warriors Begin Tough Road Trip
Curry’s return comes at a crucial juncture for the Warriors, who began the season with a 4-1 record before going 2-4 — in most part due to injuries.
On Tuesday, they begin a six-game road trip, which includes stops in Oklahoma City and two stops in San Antonio, followed by away games in New Orleans, Orlando and Miami. This includes back-to-back games against the Thunder and the Spurs — the top two seeds in the Western Conference — and back-to-back contests against the Magic and Heat to round off the trip.
The Warriors (6-5) can ill afford to drop more than three of the six games, given the competitive nature of the Western Conference. Steve Kerr’s team has quickly slipped to the eighth seed after a strong start to the 2025-26 campaign.
Warriors Are Whole For First Time
Jimmy Butler III, who led the way in Sunday’s victory with 21 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, acknowledged the importance of Curry’s return after the game.
“We play some really good teams on the road,” Butler said of the upcoming trip.
“But you got to win some of these to show you can compete with the best of them. Obviously, if we got 30 [Curry] out there, our chances of winning go up drastically. But even if he isn’t ready to go, we still got to go out there and compete, because it’s very possible that we can win.”
In Sunday’s 114-83 win, the Warriors made history by notching their largest win in the Stephen Curry era (since 2009-10) when the sharpshooter has been sidelined. As such, Butler and Co. have good reason to be optimistic about the upcoming road trip.
It also helps that the Warriors are finally healthy, after starting the season without Moses Moody and De’Anthony Melton, and not having Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, Curry and Al Horford in various other games.
