The New York Jets got a brutal injury update on wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
ESPN’s Rich Cimini posted on social media, “Bad news for the Jets offense: WR Garrett Wilson is expected to miss at least 3-4 weeks with a knee sprain, source says. Good news is no surgery, just rehab.”
Head coach Aaron Glenn revealed in the post-game presser that Wilson re-injured the same knee he had hurt earlier in the season. Wilson did not return to the Cleveland Browns game in Week 10 after going down.
This Has Been a Season From Hell for Wilson
The former Ohio State product has already missed two games this season. Now he is set to miss many more.
Entering the 2025 season, Wilson had never missed a game in his NFL career.
Wilson could miss three or four games, based on Cimini’s reporting. In Week 11, the Jets have a short week as they travel to play the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football. In Week 12, the Jets continue their road trip, this time to Baltimore to play the Ravens.
In Weeks 13 and 14, the Jets have back-to-back home games against the Atlanta Falcons and the Miami Dolphins, respectively.
After that stretch, the Jets will have four games remaining in the 2025 regular season.
Three of those final four games are on the road. Week 15 is a road trip to play the Jacksonville Jaguars. In Week 16, they play the New Orleans Saints on the road. Then, in Week 17, the Jets will have their final home game of the season against the Patriots. Finally, in Week 18, the Jets will travel to Buffalo to face the Bills.
Top Social Media Reactions to Wilson Getting Hurt Again
“Win-Win for Garrett Wilson. He has to get healthy and he wasn’t going to catch any passes with this current QB play anyway,” Drew From Jersey posted.
“Brutal season for the Jets.. [The] good news is [that] it shouldn’t lead to long term issues for Garrett Wilson,” Dr. Jeff Mueller explained.
“Such a bummer for Garrett. Someone NEEDS to step up in this WR room for the Jets,” Jets analyst Dylan Tereman wrote on X previously Twitter.
Jets Will Get a Full Evaluation of the New WR Room
There is no way to sugarcoat this; the Jets’ losing Wilson is a devastating blow for this offense.
However, with the team at 2-7, this season was no longer realistically about playoff aspirations but rather evaluating the roster.
Wilson has been and will continue to be a straw that stirs the drink on offense for the Jets when healthy. What the team needs to figure out is whether anyone else is worth keeping around in the wide receiver room.
The Jets added a bunch of new pass catchers ahead of the 2025 NFL trade deadline. That group includes John Metchie III from the Philadelphia Eagles and Adonai Mitchell from the Indianapolis Colts.
Head coach Aaron Glenn revealed that Mitchell wasn’t active in Week 10 because he wasn’t comfortable enough with the playbook. However, he displayed confidence during his Monday, November 10 media availability that Mitchell would be ready for Week 11 action.
