The New York Jets have brought in some reinforcements ahead of their Week 11 matchup against the New England Patriots.
Gang Green announced on social media that they have signed former Los Angeles Rams defensive back Tre Brown to the practice squad. In a corresponding roster move, the team released defensive back JT Woods from the practice squad.
Jets Add an Interesting Piece to the Secondary Puzzle
Brown, 28, entered the league in 2021 as the No. 137 overall pick in the fourth round.
He was with the Seattle Seahawks for his entire four-year rookie contract. This offseason, he became a free agent for the first time and chose to sign with the San Francisco 49ers.
In August, he was placed on injured reserve “before being released with an injury settlement in September,” Jets editorial contributor Susanna Weir wrote in a press release.
Most recently, Brown was on the Rams. He joined the team on September 16 and was with them until he was waived on October 28. Brown appeared in five games this season. According to Pro Football Reference, Brown hasn’t played a single snap on defense this year. However, he has played in 48% of the special teams snaps.
Throughout his NFL career, Brown has appeared in 44 games and has made 13 starts. With those opportunities, Brown has collected 74 tackles, two interceptions, eight pass deflections, two forced fumbles, a sack, and two tackles for loss.
“Woods (6-2, 195), who was signed to the Jets’ practice squad on Oct. 22, was a third-round draft selection of the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022. The Baylor product appeared in 13 games and registered 8 tackles in 2 seasons with the team. Woods had brief stints with the Philadelphia Eagles’ and the Chicago Bears’ practice squads during the 2024 season, and he spent the offseason with the Seattle Seahawks before joining the Las Vegas Raiders last this summer. He was released from Las Vegas’ practice squad on Oct. 21,” Weir wrote in a press release.
This is a developing story and we’ll provide new details as they become available.
