Beloved actor Chadwick Boseman is set to be honored with a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, five years after his passing.

The late actor will be awarded the 2,828th star in the Motion Pictures category on Thursday, November 20, as part of 2024’s class of honorees.

According to a report by Billboard, Boseman’s widow, Simone Ledward-Boseman, will accept the honor on his behalf. Meanwhile, “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler and the actor’s co-star in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” Viola Davis, will deliver speeches at the ceremony.


A Well-Deserved Recognition 5 Years On

Chadwick Boseman’s star will be located at 6904 Hollywood Blvd. in Los Angeles, per the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is deeply honored to celebrate Chadwick Boseman’s extraordinary legacy with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” Ana Martinez, Hollywood Walk of Fame producer, said in a statement, per Billboard. “His powerful performances and enduring impact both on and off screen continue to inspire generations around the world.”

Boseman received his posthumous Academy Award nomination in 2021 for his role as Levee Green in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. His performance in the film won him several awards, including Golden Globe, Critics Choice, and Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Boseman’s breakout performance came in 2013 when he played Jackie Robinson in “42.” He also made an impressive portrayal of James Brown in “Get On Up” and as Thurgood Marshall in “Marshall.”

The actor then joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Black Panther in “Captain America: Civil War” and later in “Black Panther.”

Fans celebrated Boseman’s well-deserved recognition with messages of praise and appreciation across social media.

One fan wrote on Reddit, “A great man like himself should be honoured indeed. That you shall never be forgotten, RIP.”

Another commented, “It’s sad for anyone to go that young but to be taken by cancer at the beginning of what would have been a blockbuster career is just cruel timing. The guy was on the cusp of a lifetime of wealth, fame, success and recognition.”

Someone noted, “Just 9 days before what would’ve been his 49th birthday.”

One fan wrote on Instagram, “Well deserved! He was one of the great actors of his generation and his memory deserves to be honored!”

Another added, “If he could get 20 stars on the walk of fame, it still wouldn’t be enough. Never forgotten.”
