With Thanksgiving and the holidays fast approaching, families can look forward to watching their favorite “Peanuts” holiday television specials for free online.
Apple TV, which recently announced a five-year extension as the exclusive streaming home for all things “Peanuts” until 2030, will provide free streaming windows for nonsubscribers to enjoy two classic animated programs featuring Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the rest of the gang.
“A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” will be available to stream for free Nov. 15 and Nov. 16; and “A Charlie Brown Christmas” will be free to stream Dec. 13 and Dec. 14, Apple TV said in a news release last month.
The announcement comes as “Peanuts,” created by the late longtime Santa Rosa resident Charles M. “Sparky” Schulz, celebrates its 75th anniversary.
“These beloved characters and stories hold a timeless significance, resonating with people of all ages across the globe. And we are delighted that the iconic holiday specials will be available for everyone to experience, continuing this time-honored, comforting tradition,” Tara Sorensen, head of children’s programming at Apple TV, said in a statement.
Apple TV, previously known as Apple TV+, has offered free streaming windows of the holiday specials since securing exclusive streaming rights to the “Peanuts” animated library in 2020.
These specials and countless hours of animated “Peanuts” programming, including new originals produced in partnership with WildBrain, Peanuts Worldwide and Lee Mendelson Film Productions, are available to Apple TV subscribers now and throughout the year at tv.apple.com.
