Anyone who has watched Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson in the last few games since he returned from missing 3 games with a hamstring injury knows he’s not the same player we’re used to.
Mainly, he’s not as mobile as he has been in the past. It’s hard to imagine Jackson winning a game with his feet like he used to.
But here’s the thing — Jackson has evolved enough as a quarterback that he doesn’t have to win games like that anymore. And Jackson at 75 to 80 percent is still better than the majority of NFL quarterbacks at 100 percent.
With some questions lingering in the air as to if Jackson might play in a critical Week 11 AFC North Division road game against the Cleveland Browns because of a knee injury were put to rest by Ravens head coach coach John Harbaugh.
“Ravens HC John Harbaugh said QB Lamar Jackson, who missed some practice time this week due to a sore knee, is a ‘full go’ for Sunday’s game against the Browns,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter wrote on his official X account on November 14.
The Ravens started the season 1-5 but have scrapped their way back to 4-5 with 3 consecutive games — one with Tyler Huntley at quarterback followed by the last 2 with Jackson back in the lineup.
Baltimore, a preseason Super Bowl contender, has one of the NFL’s easiest schedules headed own the stretch, with 4 of their 8 remaining games against teams with losing records.
Bleacher Report Takes Major Shot at Jackson
Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay put Jackson atop his list of the NFL’s Most Overrated Quarterbacks in the week leading up to the Browns game, and did so with the resurgent Ravens clawing their way back into the NFC North Division race.
It’s pretty incredible considering he’s part of an exclusive club of 2-time NFL MVP winners.
“Lamar Jackson may not just be one of the NFL’s most overrated active quarterbacks, but also of all time,” Kay wrote. “While Jackson’s regular season statistics and team success are undoubtedly impressive … he hasn’t found a way to deliver when it truly counts. Jackson has yet to even reach the big game, let alone help raise a banner. He has a 3-5 lifetime playoff record, a .375 postseason winning percentage that stands far and away as the worst amongst the multiple-time MVPs.”
The ranking didn’t sit well with a lot of NFL fans. Jackson is also the NFL’s career leader in rushing yards for a quarterback. He is also the only quarterback in NFL history to rush for over 1,000 yards in a single season, and he’s done it twice.
“You can never tell me that Lamar Jackson is overrated,” Charm City Connections wrote on its official X account. “Ever.”
“Pro Ball players saying Lamar Jackson is the greatest QB they’ve seen in a minute and this article has him as the most overrated QB OF ALL TIME,” Whitness Greatness wrote on its official X account. “I hate this world.”
Some thought the ranking was spot on.
“Stat pads vs poverty teams and the second he faces a team with a pulse, (Jackson) poops his pants,” Tush Push Enthusiast wrote on X. “Please don’t ever put this man in talks with Jalen Hurts ever again.”
