While Mark Wahlberg‘s 15-year-old daughter, Grace, is on the mend after breaking her collarbone during a horseback riding incident, he’s opening up about the “dangerous sport.”
“Sheâs good,” Mark said during an interview with Today. “Sheâs just angry that sheâs not allowed to be back on the horse yet. She does have to take the time to recover. She broke her collarbone. She was rushed off to the hospital in an ambulance.”
He then had some strong words about horseback riding, calling it “the most dangerous, nerve-wracking sport that Iâve ever watched and witnessed.”
However, he added that “she loves it.” He also noted that Grace is “so dedicated” to the sport.
“She has the discipline at 15 that it took me into my 40s to getting,” Mark explained. “You think I get up early and do things to prepare? I mean, sheâs a machine.”
“She was just worried that we would be too concerned because of the dangers that we wouldnât let her ride again, but sheâs passionate about it so we have to let her pursue that.”
Mark Also Called Called the Accident ‘Terrifying’
Following Grace’s accident, Mark spoke to Access Hollywood about the incident and horseback riding in general.
“She’s doing great. Thank you for asking,” he said. “It was terrifying, you know. It’s a very, very dangerous sport, but she’s so passionate about it.”
“All she wanted to do is get back on that horse, no pun intended,” he continued. “[She was] just chomping at the bit and, you know, worried that we would deem the sport too dangerous, but she is so passionate [and] so dedicated.”
He added, “It’s very, very scary, and I thank everybody for their support and well wishes.”
Grace Also Spoke Out After Her Accident
Mark wasn’t the only one to address the accident. Grace took to Instagram to share a photo of herself in a hospital bed with her arm in a sling. She wrote, “no pressure we will be back.”
Plenty of people left comments sending Grace supportive sentiments.

Someone else wrote, “Badge of honor for an equestrian jumper! The comeback is always greater than the setback! Rest up and enjoy the holidays, Grace, and get excited about taking those pearls and riding better than ever before!”
Her dad also left an emoji-filled comment, writing, “â¤ï¸âð©¹ðâ¤ï¸â𩹔
