Morgan Freeman Reveals Which Role He’d Like Next

Morgan Freeman may have a new movie in theaters, but he’s already expressed interest in another role: hosting “Saturday Night Live.”

During an interview with USA Today for TikTok, Freeman sat down with his “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” costar Woody Harrelson and EntertainThis host Ralphie Aversa to discuss his experience in the new film. At the end of the interview, Aversa mentioned Harrelson’s impressive accomplishment: he’s hosted “SNL” five times. Only 26 people in the history of “SNL” have host five or more times.

Freeman, on the other hand, has never hosted the NBC sketch comedy show, though it’s not for lack of interest. During the USA Today interview, Harrelson said he would “love it” if Freeman hosted the late-night show one day. Freeman concurred.

“I wouldn’t mind hosting it at all,” Freeman said about “SNL.” In fact, “It would be a feather in the ol’ cap, you know?”

Unfortunately, Freeman doesn’t anticipate getting a call from “SNL” showrunner Lorne Michaels anytime soon. The “Shawshank Redemption” actor said, “It’s been a long haul,” adding he doubts a hosting gig is “in the works.”

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – NOVEMBER 10: (L-R) Rosamund Pike, Alex Kurtzman, Dave Franco, Woody Harrelson, Bobby Cohen, Isla Fisher, Jesse Eisenberg, Justice Smith, Ariana Greenblatt, Dominic Sessa, Lizzy Caplan, Ruben Fleischer and Morgan Freeman attend Lionsgate’s “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” New York Premiere.

This weekend, Freeman’s newest film opened in theaters across the United States. “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” is the third movie in the “Now You See Me” franchise. Each film follows a group of magicians with different skill sets as they carry out a job for a secret society.

Freeman plays a former magician intent on debunking present-day magic tricks, although in the third film he must assist the magicians he previously tried to get arrested.

Morgan Freeman’s Future Acting Career

Although Freeman recently turned 88-years-old, he’s not showing any signs of slowing down his career (which bodes well for a future “SNL” hosting gig). AARP recently asked the prolific actor if he had any plans to retire soon, to which Freeman responded, “No, no, [but] I’ve been a member of AARP since I was 50.”

For Freeman, his decision to keep working is based on a simple mantra: “Keep moving.” For him, old age means he has to “keep getting up in the morning, keep working out in the gym, keep taking your vitamins, keep taking your prescribed meds, and keep moving. Keep moving. That is the secret to it all.”
