Two light rail routes were fully reopened Sunday evening in Denver after a power-outage-fueled closure, according to the Regional Transportation District.
A non-RTD vehicle crashed into a power pole on South Mariposa Street in Denver at about 4 p.m. Sunday, RTD spokesperson Stuart Summers said.
The crash caused a power line to fall onto the light rail tracks and resulted in a power outage, Summers said.
Parts of the D Line, which runs between the Littleton Mineral Station and Union Station, and the E Line, which runs between Union Station and Ridgegate Parkway Station, were closed for roughly two hours during the outage.
The two light rail lines overlap in Denver and saw the same four stations close Sunday: I-25/Broadway, Alameda, 10th/Osage and Auraria West, according to the agency.
Shuttle buses temporarily replaced the light rail in the closure area. Trains resumed service shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday, after Xcel officials safely removed the downed power pole, Summers said.
Riders can expect moderate delays on the D Line and E Line into the evening as trains get back on schedule, Summers said.
This is a developing story and may be updated.
