Taylor Swift News Breaks Amid Chiefs-Broncos Game

For an entire month now, Taylor Swift has ruled the Hot 100 chart, which is Billboard’s official ranking of the biggest songs in America, no matter the genre. Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” single has been No. 1 on the Hot 100 for a month, and now, it’s even broken Swift’s records.

Specifically, “The Fate of Ophelia” has topped the Billboard Hot 100 for five straight weeks. In doing so, it’s become the third Swift single to stay that high on the chart for so long.

Last week, “The Fate of Ophelia” was tied with “Shake It Off” and “Cruel Summer” for the amount of time spent at No. 1. But, beginning this week, the song has become one of Swift’s third-longest-running No. 1s ever, according to Billboard, and both “Cruel Summer” and “Shake It Off” are tied for fourth-longest-running toppers.

More Success for Taylor Swift

Now, only two Swift songs have been No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 longer than “The Fate of Ophelia”: “Anti-Hero” with eight weeks on top of the chart and “Blank Space,” which dropped back in 2014 and has been No. 1 many times over.

Also, over the past five weeks, both “The Fate of Ophelia” and “The Life of a Showgirl” have remained at No. 1 on their charts, marking the first time in history that both an album and single have debuted at No. 1 and stayed there for a month.

“The Life of a Showgirl” has gotten rave reviews, too. “Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ combines new, exciting sonic turns with incisive storytelling,” Rolling Stone says in its review of the album. Maya Georgi of Rolling Stone adds, “On her 12th studio album, Swift hits all her marks — from new, exciting sonic turns to incisive storytelling.”

So, Swift has plenty of reasons to celebrate today, even though the Kansas City Chiefs didn’t pull off a win.
