Walton Goggins has finally relented and agreed with the internet that he might just resemble the Grinch.
Social media users started noticing the resemblance in April, at the height of the frenzy about his performance in HBO’s black comedy drama series “The White Lotus.”
Goggins had appeared on the cover of Cultured magazine in a pair of Speedos, and the internet was awash with people comparing the actor to the festive character. He wasn’t on board with the comparisons at the time, but something has happened to change his mind.

Having initially laughed off the (unflattering?) suggestions, a new role for the actor has led him to agree with the people who made the initial comparisons to the iconic Christmas character.
In Walmart’s 2025 “Who Knew?” holiday campaign, Goggins, 54, suits up as the Grinch for a festive 149-second commercial â and it turns out that was all the confirmation the actor needed to agree with those who made the initial comparisons to the green meanie.
Speaking to People, Goggins said, “You can never really know until you step into those shoes, I suppose, into those green furry shoes, and really look at yourself.”
He continued, “I thought, ‘You know what? Okay, I do kind of look like the Grinch.”
It’s always nice to see a celebrity who’s able to laugh at themselves, and this humorous admission by Goggins will only help to endear him to people.
The Walmart Commercial Is a Fresh Take on the Grinch

The Grinch story itself is also reimagined for the campaign, as Mindy Lou Who and the Grinch join forces to bring the people of WhoKnewVille great Black Friday deals. Moreover, in this version of the story, Max the dog is even described as being able to make a “killer matcha.”
Walmart have clearly spared no expense with the commercial. Not only have they recruited a Hollywood A-lister in Goggins, but the costumes and scenery look like they’re straight out of a big-budget blockbuster festive film.
