Dodgers, Phillies Floated as Trade Destination for Red Sox Star

The Los Angeles Dodgers secured the 2025 World Series with a rotating cast of outfielders throughout the regular and postseason. Dave Roberts counted on several players to play all over the outfield, with Teoscar Hernández being the consistent starter.

Despite winning the World Series, adding a regular outfielder appears to be one of the priorities. While Los Angeles could be looking at the free agent market, there’s also the possibility that they go through the trade route.

With the MLB offseason in full swing, Bleacher Report’s Kait Maniscalco sees the Boston Red Sox entertaining offers for Jarren Duran. Moreover, she believes that the Dodgers could be one of the teams that inquire about the outfielder.

“I think a very interesting trade piece for a lot of teams would be Jarren Duran,” Maniscalco said on B/R Walk-Off. “This is somebody that’s going to be under team control until 2028, so you’re going to have him for a decent amount of years.

“So the return for the Boston Red Sox would be pretty good, right? So teams that I think Jarren Duran could be a great fit for are, everyone’s going to yell at me, but the Los Angeles Dodgers, okay, desperately need another outfield spot.

“The Philadelphia Phillies. They had a lot of rentals this year. The Detroit Tigers, the Cleveland Guardians, and the Texas Rangers. I think those would be the biggest teams that could, one, give a return for Jarren Duran, and two, could be very beneficial for him.”

What Will Teams Offer for Jarren Duran?

As for what would entice the Red Sox to trade Duran, Maniscalco believes that pitching could be what Boston would demand in a trade for their outfielder.

“I think if they trade Duran, it will be for starting pitching depth, which they desperately need,” Maniscalco added. “Again, I would consider a perennial All-Star and a veteran first baseman.

“It should be very interesting because this is a player who could be extremely valuable to many teams. Unfortunately, the way things shook out in Boston, and I know fans love him, they have too many young rookies on cheap contracts they can use in the outfield right now.”

Jarren Duran Could Be an Alternative for the Dodgers

Los Angeles have a reputation for making bold moves, though they rarely dive in without a plan. Kyle Tucker’s name is in the rumor mill linking to the Dodgers after spending the 2025 MLB season with the Chicago Cubs, and the match checks out on paper.

Still, the reigning World Series champions are only to engage if the situation aligns with what they want to spend, not what Tucker’s camp is demanding.

“The Dodgers have been and will continue to be linked to free agent outfielder Kyle Tucker, though industry sources believe they’ll only get heavily involved if his market doesn’t materialize,” Alden Gonzalez of ESPN wrote in an article published on November 14.

“The Dodgers are open to adding another bat, and doing so makes the most sense in the outfield, but they are not expected to go into the 10- or 12-year space for Tucker.”
