Channel 5 crime drama Cooper and Fry, with two beloved British TV stars at the helm, has been dubbed the ‘best detective duo in years’.

The new show, based on the book series by Stephen Booth, sees Doctor Who icon Mandip Gill and Downton Abbey’s Robert James-Collier as our titular crime-busting pair.

Set in the fictional Peak District town, Edendale, this rural four-episode drama sees the newly-formed ‘chalk-and-cheese’ team sent out to investigate a string of mysterious deaths.

As the official synopsis reads: ‘In the Peak District, mismatched detectives Ben Cooper and (originally from Leeds) Diane Fry must work together on a series of unusual cases to get results.

‘Despite Fry’s pessimism of local folklore, they’ll need to navigate not only the twisted paths of the cases before them, but also the shadowy beliefs that still hold sway in the hills.’

Move aside Holmes and Watson – there’s a new duo in town that’s hot on the case.
