The Los Angeles Lakers have started the season 11-4, putting them within the top six in the Western Conference. That top six is exactly where Los Angeles wants to be, as it would keep them out of the dreaded Play-In game. Now, the season is still young, but the Lakers are right where they want to be.
LeBron James made his return to the court on Tuesday night against the Utah Jazz. He played 30 minutes, scored 11 points, and dished out a team-high 12 assists. James extended his record of consecutive games with at least 10 points, but it was not his best performance. On the back of Luka Doncic, the Lakers walked away with a blowout win in the King’s return.
LeBron’s son, Bronny James, played four minutes in the win. He was 1-for-1 from the field, with the one shot being a three-pointer. Bronny finished with three points and two assists in his short time on the court. Those four minutes were the second-lowest he has played all season.
With his minutes trending downward and Los Angeles continuing to get healthy, the Lakers have decided to send Bronny to the G League, per ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.
Bronny James Still Needs to Develop

Bronny has played in just 37 total NBA games. In his career, the second-year pro has averaged 2.2 points, 1.1 assists, and 0.7 rebounds per game. Additionally, James has a career shooting percentage of 30.9%, while his three-point percentage sits below 30%. He has to sharpen his shooting ability and learn how to make a true impact at the NBA level.
Shooting is where Bronny can really improve at the G League level. In fact, Coach J.J. Redick was seen yelling at James to shoot the ball more, especially when open. Maybe it was due to a lack of confidence, or maybe he did not see the shots. Whatever the case may be, Bronny will have plenty of chances to gain confidence in his stroke with the South Bay. That confidence is what he will have to take with him when he makes his return to the NBA court.
With South Bay last season, Bronny averaged 21.9 points per game, 5.5 assists, and 5.1 rebounds. In his 11 games played, the USC product took 17.5 shots per game and made 44.3% of them. He also made 38% of his three-point attempts. He is not going to be the player to take that many shots with Los Angeles, but he needs to greatly improve in the NBA if he wants to earn more minutes.
Adou Thiero Also Sent to G League

Adou Thiero was sent to the G League along with Bronny. Thiero was a second-round pick in the 2025 draft out of the University of Arkansas. He has made just two appearances in the NBA and played just nine total minutes. In that time, Theiro has scored six points and grabbed one rebound.
His lack of minutes in Los Angeles made him an easy candidate to be sent down to the G League. He is a capable scorer, which is evident by his 15.1 points per game during his final college season. The G League will be a good place for Thiero to get the minutes he needs to get used to professional basketball.
