Packers HC Matt LaFleur Shares Update on Josh Jacobs Ahead of Practice

After a two-game skid, losing to the Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles in consecutive games, the Green Bay Packers were able to bounce back in Week 11 with a much-needed win over the New York Giants on the road at MetLife Stadium.

Even though the Packers were able to secure their sixth win of the 2025 NFL season last week, it came with a cost, as star running back Josh Jacobs suffered a knee injury, which could keep him sidelined for Week 12’s matchup against the division rival Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field.

Fortunately, Jacobs was able to avoid a severe knee injury, which some had feared, but his status for Sunday’s game has been uncertain, considering he has been day-to-day.

On Friday, during the team’s media availability, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur gave an update on Jacob’s status for the divisional showdown with the Vikings in Green Bay.

“Yeah, I’d say he’ll be limited,” LaFleur said. “And we’ll see what he can do. Just talking to him, he’s feeling pretty good, so we’ll see when we get out there.”

LaFleur was asked what goes into the decision for Jacobs to play or be sidelined for Sunday’s game. The Packers head coach made it clear it’s a “collective decision” with his coaching staff.

“It’s a collective decision, always,” LaFleur said. “First of all, he has to be medical cleared. His level of confidence, and then we’ll all discuss and make a decision.”

It seems like Jacobs is trending in the right direction in terms of being cleared to play against the Vikings. However, it remains to be seen if that decision will be made, as LaFleur and his coaching staff won’t want to jeopardize the health of one of their best offensive players, with six regular-season games left to be played after the matchup with Minnesota.

Packers Receive Promising News on Jayden Reed

Heading into the 2025 campaign, the Packers had high hopes for star wide receiver Jayden Reed, as many believed he would elevate his game to another level and potentially become an elite wide receiver in the league.

Reed’s season got off to a good start in Week 1 against the division rival Detroit Lions, as he hauled in three catches for 45 yards and a touchdown. Unfortunately, it came at a cost, with the Michigan State product going down with a collarbone that required surgery, resulting in him missing considerable time.

Although he’s missed the majority of the season, Reed is trending in the right direction to get back on the field sooner rather than later, as he returned to practice on Friday, according to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.

Once Reed can return to the receiving corps, which has recently welcomed back Christian Watson, the Packers will be that much more dominant offensively, a desperately needed improvement due to the team’s struggles on that side of the football over the last few weeks.
