Nuggets Bracing for Bad News on Aaron Gordon’s Injury

The Denver Nuggets are bracing for the worst in terms of Aaron Gordon‘s latest hamstring injury. Gordon suffered a strained hamstring on November 22 against the Houston Rockets. He dealt with calf issues on the same leg last season.

According to Bennett Durando of The Denver Post, the Nuggets are seeking second opinions regarding Gordon’s hamstring strain. The franchise doesn’t want to make any announcements regarding his recovery timeline without going over multiple doctors and specialists.

“We’re trying to make sure we get the correct answer to make sure we’re doing the right thing… Obviously, that was concerning last night with Aaron,” Adelman said.

The Nuggets started the season with a deep roster, but injuries have slowly decimated their depth. Christian Braun suffered a severe sprained ankle earlier this month and has been ruled out for the rest of the year. Julian Strawther has a back issue, but it’s not considered serious.

In anticipation of Gordon’s absence, the Nuggets are looking at several options like Spencer Jones, Peyton Watson, Zeke Nnaji and DaRon Holmes II.

Gordon’s Soft Tissue Injury History

Aaron Gordon played in just 51 games last season due to a right calf issue that hampered him for the majority of the campaign, as per Fox Sports. Gordon suffered the injury in early November 2024, which slowed him down considerably for the rest of the season.

The 30-year-old star even came off the bench multiple times to preserve his body for the playoffs. It worked in a way because he was fantastic for the Denver Nuggets against the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round. He also torched the Oklahoma City Thunder before going down with a left hamstring in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals.

Now, the issue has returned, so the Nuggets are expected to be very cautious about Gordon. He’s one of the most important players for the franchise, with his frontcourt partnership with Nikola Jokic among the best in the NBA. ESPN listed his potential return date as December 1st, but that’s unlikely to stand.

While the Nuggets survived his injury on November 22 to beat the Houston Rockets, they were unable to get it together the following night. They struggled without Gordon, with Spencer Jones playing badly as a starter.

Bruce Brown Jr. and Tim Hardaway Jr. also struggled with their shots off the bench, as Denver lost 128-123 to the Sacramento Kings.

Jokic Makes Plea After Kings Loss

The absence of Aaron Gordon and Christian Braun was evident in the Denver Nuggets’ tough defeat to the Sacramento Kings. The Nuggets’ new front office improved the team’s depth in the offseason, and it will be tested moving forward.

Nikola Jokic has called on the team to have a sense of urgency despite having a 12-4 record and being second in the loaded Western Conference, as per DNVR Sports. Jokic, who had 44 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists, wants to see some consistency on both ends of the floor in every game.

Jokic is averaging a triple-double, but it will take more than that and more from his teammates to continue their winning ways. The Nuggets’ final three games of the month will be against the Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs and Phoenix Suns.
