Man, 52, killed after his quad bike flipped over near Yorkshire woodland

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was killed when his quad bike overturned on private land.

Detectives are investigating the fatal crash near Knottingley at around 4.20pm on Saturday, November 22.

The man, who is a local, was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.

His family have been informed.

Traffic Sergeant Mark Patterson said: ‘I would like to thank the members of the public who assisted the emergency services at the scene.

‘I’d also request that anyone who was in the Dales Wood area between 3pm and 4pm who saw the man riding a green Honda quad bike gets in touch with us if they have not already done so, as it may help our investigation into the incident.’

There have been many serious quad bike crashes in the past including Ozzy Osbourne who suffered serious injuries including a broken collarbone, several fractured ribs and a damaged vertebra.

Earlier this year, 20-year-old Ethan Powell from Brynmawr in Blaenau Gwent was killed in a crash where a quadbike was found overturned.

Five people were arrested in connection with the crash with one of them on suspicion of murder.
