Lions Make Stunning Aidan Hutchinson Announcement

The Detroit Lions had a close game against the New York Giants on Sunday, November 23, and it shouldn’t have been so close, but this is the NFL, and these things happen. It was a race to the finish with the Giants leading the Lions for most of the game, but at the very end, in overtime, Detroit pulled off a win with a 34-27 victory.

After the game, Lions head coach Dan Campbell was humble and gave the Giants credit. Speaking to the press, he said, “Credit to that team, man. They played hard, threw the kitchen sink at us, but we knew they would. That’s what the tape said. Man, I’m proud of the guys.”

He added, “We hung in there, we fought. We felt like the next series was going to be the one that we were going to get the upper hand, and we did. It’s not easy to hang in a game like that, when there’s things that aren’t going perfect.”

Now, the Detroit Lions have a 7-4 record heading into their Thanksgiving game against the Green Bay Packers. To make things even better, the Lions announced some big news about defensive end Aidan Hutchinson after the game.

Detroit Lions Defensive End Aidan Hutchinson Makes Franchise History

During the game, Hutchinson set a single-game franchise record for six quarterback hits. The Lions announced the news on Monday, November 24, with a post on social media.

“I love hearing Dan Miller get so excited. And Hutch is a beast,” one follower said on social media. “Not gonna lie…I was holding my breath expecting the refs to throw a flag for a hip drop tackle or something ridiculous,” another said.

He wasn’t the only one to make history. Quarterback Jared Goff also made franchise history. He’s has now thrown for a touchdown in 17-straight games, the second-longest streak in franchise history, according to research from the Lions. This is also the third time in Lions history that a quarterback has thrown a touchdown in each of the first 11 games of a season,” they announced during the game.

Finally, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown also made history, reaching 500-career receptions in just 77-career games. “This marks the second-fewest games needed to accumulate 500 receptions in NFL history,” the Lions stated.

Dan Campbell Talks Detroit Lions Win

One of the most critical moments of the game happened when Jake Bates made a game-tying field goal to help the Lions get back on track. After the game, Campbell praised him, and rightfully so.

“Yeah, big kick. That was a big kick, big time,” he said in a postgame press conference. “I mean, and for him, there again, he’s clutch. When we need him most, he goes out there and he makes the kick for us. And that’s not an easy kick. I mean, I don’t know what that was, 60 yards? Somewhere in there?”

He added, “But to have to go out there and ensure that we’re able to get this to overtime, that’s a big kick, man. And it took a lot of our guys making big-time plays in critical moments. And for some of the things that didn’t go well, those were the things that did go right and that’s what wins in this league.”
