It’s official, the docuseries that 50 Cent has mentioned multiple times since Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was arrested is a go. In a surprise announcement, Netflix has set an official release date for Sean Combs: The Reckoning. Supporters and critics alike didn’t think the series would ever see the light of day; now, its release is way sooner than anyone ever anticipated.

‘Sean Combs: The Reckoning’ has an official release date

Diddy is settling into life at Fort Dix. While his kids hope to have him home soon, he still has several years left on his sentence. As the disgraced music mogul gets ready for Thanksgiving, he has a new problem to worry about. Aside from multiple civil lawsuits that are still waiting to be settled and a years-long prison stint, he’ll also need to worry about an upcoming docuseries about his life, the allegations against him, and his crimes.

On November 25, Netflix announced that Sean Combs: The Reckoning will be released on December 2. The docuseries will include four parts, with 50 Cent serving as the film’s executive producer. Alex Stapleton directed. Stapleton is best known for Hello, Privilege. It’s Me, Chelsea, a docuseries starring Chelsea Handler.

50 Cent announced the project two years ago

While Sean Combs: The Reckoning has a release date that is shockingly soon, the project has been in development for years. 50 Cent first announced the project back in December 2023. The announcement came long before Diddy was arrested on racketeering and sex trafficking charges. Still, 50 Cent revealed the planned project shortly after several women stepped forward to accuse Diddy of sexual assault. Many more came forward after. At the time of the initial announcement, 50 Cent said proceeds from the series would go towards survivors of sexual abuse. Further details on that pledge are unavailable.

When the project was first made public, DIddy was free to respond, and he did just that. According to Variety, Diddy took to X to swat down the allegations against him. He claimed that his accusers were hunting for a payday, and insisted they were trying to assassinate his character. He did not name 50 Cent or mention the docuseries, but its announcement appears to have spurred his statement. While it has been clear for years that 50 Cent disliked Diddy, Diddy long insisted there was no actual bad blood between them. We assume he has since changed his tune.

What will the docuseries cover?

The four-part series won’t just take a look at Diddy’s drug-fueled sex parties and arrest. It won’t even focus solely on his penchant for violence or his questionable business practices. Instead, the series plans to explore how the music mogul rose to the top and how he fell so spectacularly.

While we don’t know exactly how the docuseries will tell Diddy’s story, we do know that several people from Diddy’s former inner circle worked with 50 Cent and others on the project. Netflix has not announced who participated in the series, though. It is unclear whether anyone who testified at the trial has also agreed to appear in the docuseries.
