Legendary Lion: Lincoln-San Jose’s Kyan Phillips etches name in school history with 6 TDs as Lions win first CCS title
SAN JOSE — In case of emergency, give the ball to Kyan Phillips.
Lincoln-San Jose, playing in its first Central Coast Section championship game, heeded that advice repeatedly on Saturday night at San Jose City College.
It was a wise decision. Facing Branham for the Division IV title, Lincoln continuously fed Phillips, who scored six touchdowns in the first three quarters as the Lions beat the Bruins 49-21.
Phillips put on a performance for the ages, dazzling with an array of long scoring runs and finishing off multiple tough carries inside the tackles to compile an astounding personal point total.
All told, Phillips has now scored 41 touchdowns this season.
