Rams Get Good News After Kyren Williams Injury Scare

The Los Angeles Rams jumped out to an early lead against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford connected with wide receiver Davante Adams for a four-yard touchdown less than three minutes into the game.

That score gave Stafford an NFL record as he passed Tom Brady for most passing touchdowns without an interception (28). Right after that, Stafford threw two interceptions in the quarter, including a pick-six.

Adams also passed Antonio Gates for the 7th-most receiving touchdowns in NFL history when he caught a pass in the second quarter.

Unfortunately, the Rams came up short with a 31-28 loss to the Carolina Panthers, and they saw an injury scare to running back Kyren Williams.

Rams Get Positive Update on RB

In the first half, Williams had eight carries for 44 yards. However, he left the game with an injury, and the team revealed his status shortly after.

“Rams Injury Update: RB Kyren Williams (ankle) is questionable to return.”

Williams was replaced by Blake Corum, who scored a touchdown with less than two minutes to go in the first half.

But, Williams returned and was able to finish the game with 72 yards and a touchdown in the loss.

After the game, Williams provided a sigh of relief on the injury, via Adam Grosbard of The Los Angeles Daily News.

“Kyren Williams said he’s ankle is good and he’ll play next week.”

Sarah Barshop of ESPN also added more on the injury to Williams.

‘Kyren Williams said his ankle is good because he had scar tissue from a previous injury that helped him when he was rolled up on.’

The Rams RB also added, “Thank goodness for that.”

It is a breath of fresh air after he left the game with the injury, and his being healthy is a big boost to the offense.

Williams entered the game with 796 yards rushing and six scores, and his touchdown on Sunday marked the third time in the last four games that he had a rushing score.

Corum also ran well, totaling 81 yards and a score on seven carries.

Rams Lose Top Seed in NFC

While Williams being good to go is good news, the Rams’ loss to the Panthers saw them drop from the top seed in the NFC.

The Rams are now 9-3, and this is the first loss since October 2 against the San Francisco 49ers.

However, the Chicago Bears, also at 9-3, have surpassed the Rams for the sop seed in the NFC for the time being.

The 49ers are at 9-4 after a win over the Cleveland Browns, and the Seattle Seahawks entered Sunday at 8-3, so the Rams are barely holding on to the lead in the tough NFC West division.

The Rams have a somewhat-favorable schedule to end the year with a pair of games against the Arizona Cardinals, who dropped to 3-9.

The Rams face the Cardinals on the road to begin December. They then face the Detroit Lions, Seahawks, Atlanta Falcons and Cardinals to end the year, so there is still a path to the Rams clinching home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
